[Edited 8/28/19 10:41am] You know what I mean though, yeah? Star Wars has always been a "simplistic story". It's a fairytale in space. It doesn't need the likes of Scorsese, Spielberg or Kubrick. It never had those kind of ambitions. It's the kind of movie that knows what it is. It's a silly, entertaining fantasy movie. Nothing more. There's no reason to suspect that JJ can't do a good enough job to close out the Skywalker saga.

I presume you haven't read the Thrawn trilogy? How familiar are you with Star Wars outside of the films?

I've never read any of the books but I played Star Wars Force Unleashed on the Xbox 360 and seen my brother play Knights of the Old Republic. Other than that, it's only the movies I'm familiar with.

This trilogy follows ROTJ like 3-4yrs after I think. . This set shows the SW universe is very complex, and so many avenues of depth and such. Timothy Zhan wrote these and he was so good that Disney made sure they used him for all Thrawn novels. You really should read them. These were the first stories for over 15yrs, after ROTJ debut in film. . When you read these, and you should, you'll understand why I take the stance I do with the new movies.

[Edited 8/29/19 10:37am] Thanks for the recommendation. Are these books part of the official canon?

At this point, I'm not sure what is official canon.

Cool. I'll give them a go.

Like every star wars book, comic, and video game that came out before Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm they are no longer canon. The new movies obviously couldn't co-exist with what others had written (Chewbacca dying, Han and Leia's three children, Luke's son and wife etc.) That's why they have the word LEGENDS printed on the newer versions.

The good thing about the internet is that it is a good depository of Youtube videos, that will live on for many many years to come. And luckily a lot of people now have their own YouTube channels and have made many many videos regarding TLJ, ...homely angry nerdy males ranting about TLJ /feminization of beloved franchises and SJW's. Fodder for comedians for years to come! god bless the internet!

It is interesting that, and you must see, that you use sexist language to downplay the opinions of anyone who feels the opposite of you and no matter how articulate they express themselves, something must be wrong with 'them'. Your, in some kinda way, trying to 'punk' men who don't like the movie. It is like calling a man a sissy or a girl. Are you assuming, all female SW fans like the movie?

Why I Didn't Like Star Wars: The Last Jedi . So, I didn't like Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I looked around and most videos from both sides, whether you liked it or not, didn't really dive deep into the movie, so here I discuss in depth why I didn't like it.

Your whole premise is based on it #0 It is absolutely about "living in moms attic" developmentally arrested males who don't like seeing females in their Star Wars. And the justify their hate by calling it "SJ warrior" infused because of it. . #2 If you have to dp an amount of editing to make it good, them it is probably not good . #7 Why did the right and insecure man-boys get so vocal and so bent over this movie is beyond me. . #29 but about men-boys not happy with female protagonists. . #61 As we have seen, tone of the movie even turned off arrested developed males. . #95 knows how the nerd boys are so butt hurt. . #103 It’s ok for dork culture to like what it likes, . #127 people don't want to admit it, but there absolutely is an issue with females, minorities and supposed SJW whatever tha is. . #193 ...homely angry nerdy males ranting about TLJ /feminization of beloved franchises and SJW's. oh please it's a blanket statement yes, ..aimed at a certain toxic base that has been very vocal. we've all read about them, most everyone from Lucasfilm and Disney has talked about them. And that's made them even more toxic

You're 100% right about the 'anti-SJW' dickheads all over social media. They're so fucking stupid and annoying, constantly bitching about diversity/identity politics taking over Hollywood, and 'woke af' films like (in their opinion) Captain Marvel & Black Panther. They're worse than the SJWs they whine about....talking loud and saying nothing. Thankfully I haven't seen any of them here. [Edited 9/14/19 20:51pm]

But again, the 'shut down accusations' is if people disagree or don't like the movies, it is because they are 1 2 3 4. And it isn't true. Everytime on other forums I've read people logically or just randomly say they don't like the movies, it's because they are all these exaggerations. And people who are hardcore fans and can break the shit down, still get brushed off, by people who love it and told get over it. 100% the people who know what is up are the people who $upport the Star Wars legacy.

Bob Iger's new book gives a personal look into the negotiations between Disney and George Lucas and how things went somewhat sour between the two. The fallout between George Lucas and Disney came from the Disney company tossing out the story treatments George Lucas proposed for the sequel trilogy.
