Name ideas:

For Boys - Christopher or Tracy; Max (song The Max); Victor, of course; Bob (Bob George) or Robert (since Bob is a short version of Robert); Billy (Billy Jack Bitch); Judah (or shortened to Jude); Joey; Alexander; Dionne, and Jaime. Oh, and Dakota (Dakota Jazz Club, owned a house on Dakota - my middle son's name is Dakota, but I didn't realize there was any tie to Prince until much later, like a few years ago, when I found out about the home he own on Dakota and him going to the Dakota Jazz Club). I've always called him Koda (like musical Coda) but he has had some people from school call him Dak.

Since husband gets to pick out girl names, I'll just throw a couple out there that you can suggest to him, though he gets to pick. Crystal, Zannalee, Cindy/Cynthia, Pearl, and Vicki.

So excited to hear your wonderful news Emma!

As for names, I like Scarlett... for many reasons, especially this one. And if it's a boy... Nate of course!

Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy!

oh, and for the name, in case of a girl, it should have to do something with moonlight, to go with her eyes. something soft and gentle, warm and yielding, deeply lyrical and yet tender and frightened like a tiny white rabbit

like.... Deidre?

I like the name Jude. And Alexander was actually on my shortlist. I was thinking of naming him after Alexander 'Lex' Luthor from Superman. My ex has chimed in with some suggestions as well, one of them being his name. Can you imagine if I named the child after my ex? Hahaha.

She might go for Cat though! Congratulations Emma - wonderful news.

FWIW - my friend lost her first child to cancer (her baby was diagnosed at 18 weeks old). She went on to have two more children, but she was absolutely petrified throughout both pregnancies, and at any first sign of an illness she would go into meltdown, she still does. It is perfectly natural to be scared. You sound like you have a good support system around you (offline and online), and a wonderful husband. Lean on people when you need to, and I'll be wishing you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

(PS. I like Alexander for a boy)

Thanks for the support.

Yeah, Alexander is what I'm leaning towards. I want to have some form of Superman connection if possible. And Kal El wouldn't really work.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I really do appreciate it.

OK, so a bit of an update as far as names go. We've settled on Kara if it's a girl. At the moment, we're pretty split on Zor-El as a middle name (I want it, he doesn't) but Kara is a definite. Providing, of course, that it's a girl.

Boys names are still up for grabs though. Alexander is what I'm leaning towards at the moment but I'm not 100% committed to it. James might be appropriate too because it's my brother's name AND my husband's brother's name. But I'm open to suggestions.

I like the name Kara! My daughter's name is Cara. biggrin She gets so frustrated, though, because people pronounce her name "car-uh" instead of "care-uh". Actually, my daughter has 27 letters in her name (first, middle, and last names). Cara Jane Anne-Marie and then her last name. eek She was named after 5 women. (Her great grandmothers on both sides; Cara (Carrie, my grandma) Jane (Janie, her dad's grandma) then her middle names after her grandmothers and aunt's middle names, Anne (grandmother, her dad's mom) and Marie (my mom and sister's middle name). Poor girl, she is the last girl in the family.

Cara is Irish for friend smile

I've got a pretty long name too. I shorten it to just Emma Cunningham (although now that I'm married, I'm technically Emma Doyle) but according to my birth certificate, I'm Emma-Lynn Aoife Cunningham-McGrane. That's 30 letters and 2 hyphens LOL.

You do have a long name! And I thought I was bad! eek

Her middle brother's name is, as I mentioned earlier, Dakota. His name means "friend, ally". It was a strange coincidence that both of their names ended meaning that. I didn't find out the meaning to Cara's name until after we'd named her. lol

That's no problem. Siobhan would be a good name too. I used to go out with a girl called Siobhan though so it could have been a bit awkward... Lol.
