It amazes me (or maybe not) that we continue to issue these warnings every summer because there are so many morons who have no business being parents or pet owners and continue to have these poor children and pets dying in hot cars. Just because you enjoy the feeling of sweltering and boiling in the hot sun doesn't mean you need to subject your children and dog/cat to that sh*t.

Or get an animal sitter, family member, baby sitter for kid(s). If no one is available the common sense thing to do is to stay at home! Or risk the child being apprehended and put into care by child welfare.

Some folks don't care. They would rather make bad choices and risk the well being of an animal or a child(ren).

if you have a pet bird or a wild bird outside who is panting and/or holding his/her wings out from his/her body on a hot day a spray mist bath or bowl of water bath might be welcome to the bird

I reported a couple a few years ago while i was on my way into a eating establishment...they left their dog in a hot car while they was inside a air condition place...it was 120 ( in Illinois this was WITH humidity) the dog was panting heavily and the windows was only cracked...i called the police and they confronted them inside the restaurant... they was told on hot days like that day to LEAVE the dog at home NOT in a hot car...i havent seen them since nor the dog .. would i do it again YES... as I am a pet owner myself and would not even dare to get my own animal out in the heat( which is a cat) unless taking them to the vet or a place to be taken care of if i was going to be out of town ONLY .... other then that i leave my furbaby at home with plenty of fresh food and water and a clean litter box... i even have a neighbor that will check on her if i get stuck out of town in the winter time when i cant make it home... I always have a plan B in place as a just in case ..

ALSO please in the cold areas of the world.... please check under ur hoods of your vehicles for furbabys.. they crawl up into the engine where there is warmth from the engine.... i had 3-4 month old furbabys stow away on my way to work and didnt know till that morning when i heard the tiny moews of furbabies under my hood when i knew my own furbaby was at home inside...dont worry they are safe and wasnt hurt during their ride( i had animal control helping me getting them out .. they was strays and the shelter in the town where i work was a no kill shelter and found homes) i was so lucky they wasnt hurt by the engine fan under the hood....i ALWAYS check under the hood when it gets cold out now ..... that scared me so bad

This is one thing I don't understand about dog owners, why do many of them have to take their dogs EVERYWHERE??? It's like, they can't function like normal human being unless their dog is right beside them all the time. I know there are some people who claim their dogs are for emotional support. I believe only a very small percentage of these claims are actually valid.

if your dog is for emotional support, why are you locking them in hot cars? When the dog dies in the car, what happens to your emotional support??? How about emotionally supporting your dog by keeping them out of fatal situations and leaving them safe at home, espeically in extreme hot weather!
