ASSOCIATED PRESS 12:25 p.m., April 21, 2003 CLEARLAKE – A dog named Dosha may have as many lives as a cat. She was hit by a car, shot in the head and kept in a freezer for two hours, but she survived and is now doing well under a veterinarian's care. Local animal groups and the Humane Society of the United States have begun fund-raising efforts to pay for her care. Last Tuesday, Dosha was hit by a car. A Clearlake police officer reported to the scene and no one could tell him who owned the dog. Officer Bob MacDonald shot the dog, apparently to save her the pain of her injuries. Dosha, presumed dead, was taken to Animal Control, where she was put in a freezer. About two hours later, Denise Johnson, Animal Control's interim director, was at the impound facility and was told of the incident. "Apparently, it was assumed dead," Johnson said. "I went to the freezer and found that she was alive and cold." She had hypothermia and a gunshot wound, but no broken bones from the car accident, Johnson said. thats terrible po lil doggy JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

I don't know. . .I wonder if they are overestimating the freezer time. . .she would have at least been unconcious with a very low heart rate (ie. would have appeared dead) after that much time. Unless they aren't keeping the Death Freezer cold enough. . .

I wonder if the freezer actually kept her from bleeding to death? It could have saved her life.

He should have his gun permit stripped away... imagine, shooting a dog at point blank range, and not killing it. In reality, I think he's an unstable cop... poor decision making abilities... probably shot a man in NY 41 times for reaching for his wallet... Feeling you! It could have saved her life. Interesting. That hadn't occurred to me. June7 said: The bigger news is, Supernova posted a thread!!!
