huh... I am strangely aroused.

This is a 1979 documentary based on a book. I've read that it was only released in NYC for just a week or 2. This might have affected Stevie's album sales of the soundtrack probably because not many people knew it was connected to a movie. But a 2 record set about plant life is not that commercial in the first place. Someone posted the movie on Youtube a few years ago, don't know if it's still up. Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles was also in the film.

I heard that a lot of the episodes were taped over. I don't know if it's true or not, but it was common in that era for TV stations to do that to save money.

That's not season 1 though, those episodes are from 1972. The show ran from 1968-1973. Some of the episodes posted on that link was on PBS' site years ago, but were later removed. There's another PBS show from around the same time period called Black Omnibus hosted by James Earl Jones. It only ran for 1 season and has been officially released on DVD. I bought it, but I don't know if it's still in print.

The Black Ominbus DVD set has no ads, not even trailers for other videos. I've seen commercials on TV my entire life, so they don't really bother me. There's DVDs of old commercials for sale, generally ones made pre-1980s. With streaming I doubt a lot of really old TV/movies is going to be put on it, especially if its in black & white. I have stuff on VHS that has never been released on DVD, and I have records that have never been on CD. A lot of music is not online either unless someone who has it posted it on Youtube.

Since that has a pound symbol, I guess it's not something I can play because I don't have a region free player. It also says not for sale in North America. There was a USA version of the movie on DVD years ago that went out of print. I remember PBS had it as one of their pledge week gifts. I'm not really interested in the album that comes with that set, only want the movie. New release records are kinda expensive. If vinyl had the same price they had in the in the past and if I could watch the DVD, I wouldn't mind getting the set.

I found out that something I've been wanting is coming out in October. I didn't know about it. Many of these movies are already out there in various quality or as imports, but the versions in this set have been restored. I have the first Godzilla movie on DVD and the King Kong one on videotape, but don't have any of the others.

Legendary's Godzilla, King of the Monsters is coming out on DVD later this month - can't wait for that. The movie performed below expectations, but general audiences just aren't into Godzilla. Michael Dougherty made this for hardcore fans, and he didn't disappoint, IMO.

I'd also be interested in the Censored 11 cartoons, but I doubt this is going to happen for the same reason as Song Of The South. Warner Brothers restored them a few years ago, and was going to release them. It was later cancelled and WB gave the reason that old cartoon shorts on home video don't sell anymore. One of them (Coal Black) was voiced by Vivian Dandridge, the sister of Dorothy. If they're worried about the content, then have Whoopi Goldberg or somebody else film a disclaimer like on Tom & Jerry cartoons that have been released on DVD. The Conqueror with John Wayne is still in print, and so is the old silent film Birth Of A Nation.

I've only seen it sold as an import DVD from the UK, which I cannot use. I still have the videotape though, but don't have a VCR that works. I have a lot of stuff on VHS that has never been released on DVD/Blu Ray like the 1985 Sun City song documentary, a Bruce Lee interview, Making Of Thriller, some music video compilations, and stuff I've taped from TV. I don't think many of the old "movie of the week" that used to be on ABC/NBC/CBS have been officially released on home video either. I remember one with Gary Coleman as an angel. The ones that have tend to be low quality public domain versions like those Gilligan's Island reunion movies.

There's a Criterion version of this. I've seen it in the library. I don't know if there's a version for Australia though. I think Criterion discs are only playable in regions that can play the same as USA, maybe Japan.

Soap was recorded on video tape. Much like Norman Lear's shows, a blu-ray wouldn't be able to make it look beautiful. I agree with your desire to see more tv on blu. Sadly, it's mostly only science fiction that makes it to blu.

I bought the U.S. Blu-ray when it was released in 2015. It's a very good transfer. You can read the review here: https://www.blu-ray.com/m...86/#Review

Before then, I had the U.S. DVD which is still sold online by Russ Meyer's estate: http://rmfilms.com/store/...duct_id=99
