I don't think this is ever going to happen. I saw a recent interview with the current president of Disney and he was asked if Song Of The South was going to be on the upcoming Disney streaming service. He said he had watched it recently and said no. He basically said that it wasn't appropriate for today's audience. It's the same reason CBS won't put out Amos & Andy, and there's only public domain DVDs that are not good picture quality and missing a few episodes. In the case of Amos & Andy, there's nothing really wrong with the show like there might be with Disney's movie in which Uncle Remus was/is a slave. Amos & Andy has a reputation from people who have not seen it, but only heard about it because the NAACP forced it off the air. They think it's a Stepin Fetchit kind of thing but it's not. More modern shows like Martin and the sitcoms Tyler Perry made probably have more non-PC things in them than Amos & Andy. There's nothing on it like what's on Meet The Browns. Now the original radio show version and the movie Check And Double Check with the white radio actors in blackface might be offensive, but the sitcom is different from that. It's not really much different from I Love Lucy, except it's black actors. Kingfish is kinda like Lucy's character always coming up with schemes to get into Ricky's stage show. With Kingfish it's to get rich quick by scamming people.

The past shouldn't be censored. They could release it with an introduction by Whoopi, who said she's in favor of it being released. It's not like kids would want to watch it.

Disney long ago edited out this character from Fantasia. This part has never been on any home video release.

Fortunately, being a horror fan most of the obscure crap I'm in to has had a blu-ray release.

The thing that still narks me are the different releases in different regions. Given how global purchases now are, why are we still getting different region releases? Was really looking forward to the special edition version of Urban Legends until I found out its Region A only. Time to ditch that BS.

I heard that a lot of the episodes were taped over. I don't know if it's true or not, but it was common in that era for TV stations to do that to save money.

Really the only show I would like to see released on DVD is 227. They released the first season years ago and then stopped. For some odd reason, they recently re-released the first season with no word on additional seasons. Yet, other shows that weren't as popular get complete series releases.

I've read that TV programs that only had 1 or 2 seasons released on DVD when they had more is because they didn't sell well. I think newer shows generally sell better than old ones other than the really popular ones like the 1960s Star Trek.

I still have the videotapes for these, but they've never been released on DVD. I don't have a VCR that works and couldn't get it repaired.

Actually, it will be the original, but Peter Jackson is putting together a documentary that takes some of the unreleased/unused footage of Let It Be (and that time period) showing that the Beatles were not as contentious with one another as Let It Be suggests - it was just the way it was cut.

Are these 2 different things or going to be together? I thought Let It Be was going to be re-released to theaters first like A Hard Day's Night, Help!, & Yellow Submarine a few years ago. I don't see a theater showing a movie and a separate documentary. Isn't the original movie a documentary anyway?

Maybe it's for a Criterion release. They put documentaries with movies. The Beatles already have a Criterion version of their 1st movie.

Music shows like Midnight Special, Soul Train, American Bandstand, Shindig, etc. The entire episodes, not just DVDs with clips of the most popular artists. James Brown had a show called Future Shock. It wasn't on the air that long, so getting the music rights shouldn't be as hard. I've seen infomercials of different Time-Life CD sets and they'll show clips from different programs & music videos. I always think they could release these clips in a compilation too.
