Box Office: ‘Aladdin’ Conjures up OVER $207 Million-Plus WORLDWIDE Over Memorial Day Weekend

Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” soared far above the competition in North America, with an estimated $112.7 million at 4,476 sites over four days.

It’s the fifth-highest Memorial Day weekend total ever, topping “X-Men: Days of Future Past’s” 2014 mark of $110.4 million. Disney holds the record for the holiday, with 2007’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” at $139 million.

“Aladdin” easily outperformed Disney’s pre-opening domestic projections, which were in the $75 million to $85 million range for the four days — and underlined the validity of the studio’s strategy of rebooting its animated classics such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Jungle Book.” In this case, it remade the original 1992 animated movie with Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Will Smith as the Genie, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. Guy Ritchie directed.

Good to see the numbers have far succeeded expectation regardless of if 'Aladdin' is a sequel or not. Which has ALREADY made back it's "reported" budget that far surpassed it's competition this long Memorial weekend.

Teh guy playing Jafar is a joke and that horrible song from that woke Jasmin was the cringiest thing I've ever heard in a Disney movie. The guy playing Aladdin was good except for the horrible singing effect, and Will Smith as the Genie, well, the less said about that the better and I usually like him.
What a horrible waste of time this was, Guy Ritchie really was a one hit wonder (even tho Snatch had some funny moments.) and the person who did the casting should be fired on teh spot.

I liked both Lock Stock and Snatch. But since then Guy Ritchie's biggest achievement has been marrying Madonna, which isn't much of an achievement at all. He was the wrong choice to direct a movie like this. Will Smith was the wrong choice to play the genie. But he's not the worst. Jafar is probably the worst. But the entire movie is a failure. However, it's Disney. And they have the best marketing division in the world. So I'm not surprised that it's been so successful. It was always going to rake it in at the box office.

And the movie Guy Ritchie directed Madonna in was terrible...

It's kind of sad and baffeling to see my country (Netherlands) praise this Jafar actor only because he's Dutch, it seems like they are really trying to make this guy happen and pretend he did a great job in this movie.

Mega Star Will Smith’s ‘Aladdin’ Tops Weekend Box Office!

Disney's Aladdin, starring Will Smith, topped the three-day holiday weekend box office at $233 million worldwide. That figure includes $112 million in domestic ticket sales.

Aladdin is the fifth best Memorial Day opening of all time. It is director Guy Ritchie's best domestic opening ever and Will Smith's SECOND BEST behind Suicide Squad ($133.6 million) in yet another blockbuster for Will, in his HIGHLY successful franchise of movies, in a career that never seems to end.

Aladdin also stars Mena Massoud (pictured with Smith) and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine.

T.I. Set To Star In Will Smith-Produced 'Flint' Water Crisis Film

T.I.(whom I ran into at a a BET Awards after party) will be leading an upcoming film about the Flint water, produced by MEGA star Will Smith.

Clifford "T.I." Harris is hopping back on the acting scene.

After starring in Ant-Man and the Wasp, the Atlanta rapper and Fast & Furious actor John Ortiz will lead FLINT, a new film set against the backdrop of the city's water crisis.

It's written by Malcolm M. Mays (who starred in John Singleton's "Snowfall). He'll also be behind the camera as the director. Get it

The film - which will shed light on a city who still has questionable clean water - is being produced via MEGA star Will Smith and James Lassiter's Overbrook Entertainment. Clarence Hammond and Dougie Cash will produce on behalf of Overbrook along with Tommy Oliver, .

Overbrook’s Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett (the beautiful successful talk show host Jada's brother) will serve as executive producers alongside T.I. and Grand Hustle's Brian Sher. The late auteur John Singleton, who is a longtime mentor and friend of Mays, helped bring the film to fruition and he's listed as an executive producer as well.

Aladdin Just Became The Highest-Grossing Movie Of MEGA STAR Will Smith's Career:



Who's laughing at the big blue genie now? We've already talked about how Disney's 2019 Aladdin remake is one of the only movies in 2019 to actually overperform from expectations. It's still crushing out there.

MEGA STAR Will Smith took to social media on June 27 to let fans know Aladdin had just become the highest-grossing movie of his career to date. Smith is 50-years-old and he's been making hit movies since the early '90s, so this is quite an accomplishment. Here's what he said to fans:

"This is a post that I'm just humbled and honored to make right now. Today, Aladdin just passed Independence Day as the highest grossing film of my entire career. To be in this game as long as I've been in this game, and to have my biggest movie at this point in my career, I just want to say thank you."

Aladdin has made $821,250,530 worldwide and counting. It still ranks high each week on the domestic box office charts, always just behind the new releases and usually ahead of whatever came out the previous week. Aladdin has made $296.5M domestic so far and $524.7M internationally. So you can understand why he'd want to single out each country for thanks.

Independence Day made $817,400,891 worldwide, from a very similar split -- $306M domestic and $511M worldwide.

Granted, Independence Day came out in 1996. If we adjusted for inflation, the change in ticket prices would still give Independence Day the edge.

Box Office Mojo does have adjusted domestic figures (not worldwide), and they show that Independence Day would still be Will Smith's #1 movie, followed by Men In Black, Suicide Squad, I Am Legend, and then Aladdin. But that's not counting the foreign box office into the totals.

Worldwide, unadjusted for ticket price inflation, Aladdin is tops, followed by Independence Day, then Suicide Squad with $746.8 million, Hancockwith $624.4 million, and MIB 3 with $624 million.

Aladdin is still expected to be in the top five at the box office this pre-Independence Day weekend. It's projected to make about $9.3 million, behind Toy Story 4, Annabelle Comes Home, and Yesterday.

It used to be that Will Smith was the king of July 4 weekends, but Aladdin is proving that he doesn't need that summer weekend to slay.

Congrats again to Will for ANOTHER career achievement.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith are expanding their entertainment footprint. The powerhouse couple announced Wednesday they are starting a multimedia venture titled Westbrook Inc.

The forthcoming company will back new and existing projects from the Smith family, including short and mid-form digital content, as well as traditional TV shows and movies, in an effort to execute their global content. Westbrook Inc. will begin launching content this month.

“We are so excited to announce this new venture and fully immerse ourselves in all areas of the media and entertainment space,” Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith said in a statement. “With our incredible team of family, chosen family, and longtime business partners, Westbrook Inc.’s mission is to spread positive ideas, art, and products that entertain and empower the greatest number of lives, inspiring the next generation of artists to do good in the world.”

Content from the newly formed Westbrook Studios will put an emphasis on developing feature films, TV series and documentaries from diverse voices. It will also back projects as starring vehicles for Will Smith and the family’s network within Hollywood. The studio announced Wednesday it is bringing in Steve Bender in the role of development finance.

Westbrook Studios currently produces the Facebook Watch series “Red Table Talk” with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. The company, under the direction of Lukas Kaiser and Sadao Turner, was also responsible for Will Smith’s buzzy foray into social media, the social media campaign around Disney’s box office hit “Aladdin,” as well as the social channels for Jada Pinkett Smith, Red Table Talk, and Jaden Smith’s water brand Just Water.

People always say that the African American entertainers doesn't help it's own. Will & Jada have proven that wrong over and over again.

Gorgeous is a big word. I think that there are plenty of regular folks who could put this family to shame when it comes to good looks. Unique looking, yes. Willing to take fashion risks? Yes.
