RIP Doris Day

(CNN)Doris Day, the box-office queen and singing star whose wholesome, all-American image belied an often-turbulent personal life, has died, her foundation announced Monday.

She was 97.
The actress passed away early Monday surrounded by a few close friends at her Carmel Valley home, according to the Doris Da...Foundation.
She had celebrated her 97th birthday just last month with nearly 300 fans who gathered in Carmel to celebrate with her.
Day had recently contracted a serious case of pneumonia which resulted in her death, the foundation said.

Doris was such a hottie back in the day, I can't count how many fantasies I had of her with Joyce Bryant.

Now only Joyce is still with us.

RIP DD. pray

One of my favorite singers...

I read her obit in The New York Times and one of her contemporaries compared her talent to Bing Cosby and Frank Sinatra. I'm not a Cosby be fan but Ms. Day was up talents was up there with Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, to name a few.

I wasn't aware most of Day's movie career was with Warner Brothers, it explains why Ms. Day acting career lacked depth. I wished she could have made more movies with Frank Sinatra, they had great chemistry. What an enormous talent, we were lucky enjoy it; RIP Ms. Day.

Favorite movie, "Young At Heart"

The one, the only, the woman who inspired so much of what I do... Doris Day I love you, my Calamity Jane. An iconic woman who I was hugely honoured to meet and share precious moments with. Rest in peace x

So sorry to hear the sad news RIP sad pray Doris Day was a triple threat who could sing, dance and act worship Plus she also spent a lifetime advocating for animals, long before it was popular angel

May 13

Doris Day was an actor & singer—but PETA will always remember her for her most important role: animal champion. From refusing to work on set when animals were mistreated, to personally rescuing & finding homes for countless animals—she left a legacy of pure integrity & love.

Doris was also a classy lady and loyal friend to her 3 time co-star Rock Hudson (Pillow Talk (1959), Lover Come Back (1961) and Send Me No Flowers (1964)) at a when alot of people were shunning those with HIV/AIDS back in the 80s touched

Lauren Wood-Viscardi‏ @LWoodViscardi May 13

We all remember #DorisDay for her acting & singing, but what stuck most with me, is when everyone was shunning those with AIDS, Doris Day embraced her dear friend, Rock Hudson. That had the biggest impact on me. Their friendship renews today. #RIPDorisDay https://people.com/celebr...rm=2472971

I've liked DD even though i didn't know much about her. I know she shunned Hollywood and was an animal activist and she stood.by Rock Hudson. Ive always wondered how she lived but i heard yesterday that despite the fact her husband left her in serious debt she won a huge settlement. Good for her.
