Are you getting enough water and sleep everyday?

What about the food you eat, how's that going? This could use it's own thread...

Then there's the mental health, you looking out there too?

I know there's been some excercise threads, what are you doing to get that heart pumping?

I'm working on these things for myself and have been on a mission to take better care of myself.

Reading, watching videos, actually doing it but I think I need to step up everything.
The mental health area is a little more challenging but I've been meditating and learning about it.

Don't mean to overshare, just curious if the Org is taking care of themselves.

1. Water/sleep : No, I´m not getting enough sleep at all but I´m working on it and learning to sleep more and better. I guess I drink enough water, especially on the days I go to the gym.

.

2.Food: I eat well, of course it could be better but I avoid fast food, I eat at least two pounds of berries per week, lots of other fresh or frozen fruit, lots of oranges, cherries, strawberries, blueberries and apples. I make sure I get enough protein from fish, freshly cooked lentil soup and chicken and protein shakes. I make sure to drink at least one protein shake per day to meet my protein requirements. One drink or shake = 1/4 of my daily protein .

I also make sure to take three big omega 3 fishoil capsules per day, 25 mg of zinc, lots of carrot juice, and I take two spoonfuls of pumpkin seed oil every night.

I also like oats and yogurt. And I eat two or three brazil nuts per day.....very high in selenium.

.

3. I go to the gym at least three, sometimes four times per week.

I do a bit of rowing for cardio on the rowing machine, and then I hit the weights and do a very intense workout with free weights and machines. I do supersets, sometimes I use very heavy weights with 8-15 repetitions and sometimes I use less weight for more repetitions (ca. 15-20 reps). It´s good to change your workout routine every now and then in order to grow.

Arnold used to say that it´s important to shock your muscles.

.

4. I don´t drive, I ride my bicycle every single day if the weather isn´t too bad. I ride at least an hour per day.

.

5. I make sure to get as much sunshine as possible. I know some think it´s dangerous but it depends. Sunshine is like medicine for me. Good for your vitamin D levels, good for your testosterone, good for your mood and immune system if you don´t overdo it.

.

6.In the summertime I often go for a swim, especially when I´m on vacation. When I ´m on vacation I swim many miles, for many hours.

.

7. My mental health is ok, I guess. Considering the amount of stress factors I have in my life I am doing pretty well but there is always room for improvement. These days I listen to more music again after a long phase of not listening to much music, especially after Prince died it took me a long time to be able to listen to his music or to any other music in general but these days I listen to all kinds of music every day. Music, when chosen wisely, has healing properties.

This is inspirational. You are killing it!

I forgot how important getting some sun is, thanks for the reminder.

You swim for miles? That is impressive!

Oh no, I like it alright, I love it to death! But I feel I just can't sit and study any more, in my room, which I do need to do sad I have practically no *human interaction*, almost all my talking to someone is over the internet! sad Hey, maybe the gym will help...? smile

I've never been in a gym in my life but my brother used to be similar to yourself. He never really left the house, very shy and had very few friends. He was always on his computer. My ex took him to his MMA gym and over time my brother started coming out of his shell more and more. He got to know the other people there, made a few friends along the way and even though he lives and works in France now, still keeps in touch with a lot of them. And because he's more confident and outgoing now, he's made lots of friends at work too.

That's inspirational! Thanks smile

(what's "MMA"?)
