Anyone besides me hate watching Television? I have just come back to prince.org and I see that a lot of threads are about TV stars and television and I just can't stand watching TV at all. I can watch something short on youtube. I despise when someone makes a vlog that takes more then 15 minutes and it basically could have been said in 7 or less. Hate make-up videos that go on and on about something that doesn't pertain to using the make-up. Anyway, just venting. I hate watching anything I don't like. But when I find something I like, I'm all in. Maybe you just haven't seen anything interesting? If drama is your thing, the 3 best TV shows for that are The Sopranos (gangsters), Deadwood (cowboys) and The Wire (cops). Perhaps you like a bit of action mixed in with the drama? Then I'd recommend Justified. It's basically a Dirty Harry TV series. Only cooler, if you can believe that. Maybe you like comedy. In which case I'd say Veep is what you're after. Funniest show on TV at the moment. If you're after superheroes, then check out Marvel's Netflix shows. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. All great shows. Basically, what I'm saying is that there are hundreds of options out there so don't rule out the possibility that at least one of them might grab you.

I simply don't own one. I have 2 roomates and one lives on the sofa facing a huge flat screen TV that she inheritted from her previous roomate. She watches tons and tons of Halmark Chanel. It is like Harlequin Romances of old on TV. The other roomate has his TV in his room. I waste my time so many ways but wasting my time watching TV FEELS like wasting my time. My parents watched a great deal of TV and they seemed more interested in the lives of these characters then in me. At around 17 or 18 I decided I was not going to get sucked up into that world. Every once in a while something will happen that makes me think, "hey, I might like that" but I don't go so far to invest in a TV set. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

The Hallmark Channel. I'd go insane if I had to watch any of that shit. If you're spending all your time watching TV, then you are indeed wasting your time. But sometimes, after a long day, it's nice to go home and sit in front of the idiot box and just unwind. Now, I'm very particular about the shows I watch. None of that reality show bollocks. But I love great stories. When I was young (I'm STILL young, let's say "younger") I would spend most of my free time reading. Yes, even though I've been told I look stupid (that's me in my avatar pic), don't let the blonde hair fool you. I used to read A LOT. When I moved into my own place, I replaced about 30% of that reading time with television. Got caught up in shows like The Sopranos, Deadwood, Firefly etc. All great stories. I've even gotten into video games in the last few years thanks to my brother. You'd be amazed at how good some of them are. But look, everyone likes to relax in their own way. If you don't watch TV, and you don't miss it, then that's great. There's loads of things to do. I would still recommend Deadwood and Justified to you though. If only for Timothy Olyphant AKA The Perfect Man.

As long as you're fulfilled with the activities you do, you can hate any activity you want. I hate watching/playing sports because when I was a kid I got disrespected constantly for not caring about them or knowing the rules.

Never been a TV person. US TV is 90% ads anyways. Sucks. Can't watch Netflix or Hulu either. Nothing interests me enough these days. I'm hardly home anyways, prefer to be outside and social. For running errands and stuff I do do audible, podcast and some 90's hiphop.

Personally I believe the Television and serialized "binge watching" phenomenon works with the "war on fun". Going out to a concert costs for a ticket + service fees + parking/transportation + $4 bottles of water and $15+ drinks/cocktails. And usually the people just kinda stand around bored on their cell phones taking pictures of themselves (in my opinion). Going out used to be relatively affordable and a tremendous amount of fun but nowadays its more cost-effective to collect platforms and watch versus experience. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

Cut the cord a few years ago and don't miss it at all.

I don't hate tv, but I'm very selective about what I watch. My husband and I watch mostly sports (basketball, baseball, golf, tennis), movies, a couple of sit coms and a couple of dramas. We also enjoy educational shows such as the stuff on National Geographic or History. I could live without those though, but I would want to be able to watch sports and movies.

My daughter watches very little tv and rarely goes to movies over 30 and never owned a tv, but what she does watch makes me laugh cause it's all over the top drama, makes no sense to me but it's her. I've always been a sucker for stories so books and/or tv shows, gotta have them, and I feel no shame about it. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Sports require a very specific form of intelligence: you have to be smart enough to understand the rules and stupid enough to think that it actually matters who wins.

I am from the US but when I have visited England, I have noticed the wonderful programs there. I wanted to stay inside and watch it all day. Even wanted to subscribe to SkyTV. They said it was not possible as the satellite was not pointing towards the US (or something like that)

I haven't watched TV in years. The only time the tv is turned on is when I want to watch a video on the big screen or play a game on the big screen. News is all corporate propaganda. Commercials make me want to poke my eyes out and set fire to my ears.
Apparently longer videos allow YouTubers to get paid or it helps in the search ranks or something. An annoyance of mine is long intros and long videos talking about rubbish from self-important, uninteresting hosts, much like your annoyances. And click-bait titles.
99.99% of youtube videos are downloaded and watched offline at my leisure, often played back at 1.5x-2x speed or so, depending on who I am listening to. [Edited 4/12/19 3:36am]

That sounds familiar. I think George Costanza said something similar... I used to always say that I prefer actual books to the likes of e-readers or, heaven forbid, audio books. But a few years ago I was gifted an Amazon Fire HD from my brother. I haven't bought a physical book since. Ebooks are far cheaper and they don't take up any room. I sold most of my physical books and made a decent sum.

I'm digital only with my books. Kindle Paper White is my preferred device.
I can't do audio. They are read so slowly and there's nothing I can do with my hands that isn't distracting from the book. [Edited 4/12/19 17:12pm]

Yes. It’s alsways the same so I wouldn’t even miss anything. But I‘m a little bit drunk right now and there’s a show coming I normally wouldn’t watch. If you know Kenny vs Spenny, then you know what I‘m talking about. It‘s the same concept but not even nearly as disgusting
