After the shitfest that was TLJ, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with this.

Again, there is apparently no strong villain in this one. Kylo is a joke. Snoke was a bigger joke. Disappointing. Palpatine won’t save it.

In other Star Wars related news, a new Star Wars game was announced called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The guy who plays The Joker in Gotham is playing the lead character in the game.

No Star Wars movie next year, and probably not the year after either.

The Mandalorian, the Rogue One prequel show and the new season of The Clone Wars will keep us busy for a while though. Plus, there's also the rumoured Obi Wan Kenobi show too. Even without more movies, we still have a lot of Star Wars stuff to look forward to.

Looks more like an action game than an RPG. May have to rent it first. It was made by some of the same people did the new God of War game.

But it looks great.

Kind of. I only play single player, story driven games. I'm not particularly good either so I typically play on the easiest difficulty setting. And due to a lack of free time, I only play about 3 games a year on average. Although I'll always find time to whoop my daughter on Mario Kart.

I wonder what the next saga is going to be like because I simply can´t imagine another saga without any connections to the old one. I mean, in the old saga all the people were somehow connected over a long timespan and it was all about Anakin´s journey and the rise of the empire so how are they planning to come up with a whole new storyline about new and different people and still make it feel like a part of the Star Wars universe without being part of the Star Wars Skywalker saga?

And I thought I was the last person on earth who still plays single player only.

These days it all seems to be about the online multiplayer experiene without a proper storyline, whereas I am a bit oldschool and prefer a good story and a good single player campaign.

And just like you , I barely find the time to play more than two or three games per year, mostly in the "normal" difficulty setting. And the older I get and the busier I get the more I tend to play games that don´t require memorizing lots of button combinations for certain actions.

I tried to play Arkham City again the other day, a game I enjoyed and had completed half a year ago but after twenty minutes I got so frustrated that I turned off the console. I just wasn´t used to playing anymore and found it difficult to remember all the combinations, and the game requires some dedication to be fully able to enjoy it.

I´d love to play some of the newer Star Wars games but I´m so out of touch and they seem to have too many bugs and too much extra stuff to download before you can really enjoy playing the game.

I played all the Arkham games. Great series. Same writers and cast as the 90s animated series so you know it's good. I find that if I stop playing a game for an extended period of time, I can't go back to it and continue where I left off. I don't remember the controls and I have no idea what I'm doing. I have to start the whole thing all over again. My brother just recently got a job at a game company in France so he sent me loads of their games for free. I doubt I'll get time to play most of them but I'm really enjoying one of them. Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Absolutely amazing. Single player, strong story, freedom to do anything and go anywhere. It's really good. I'd recommend it.

As far as I know most recent Star Wars games are online shooting games. Which makes no sense to me. You have this franchise featuring wizards with laser swords and you make an online shooting game out of it. Very strange. But this new game with The Joker in it looks good.

I do not care for multi-player either... I did some GTA online and I may do some RDR2 online some day....but I will not consider any game that is multi or online only... even something like SW Battle Front II that had what I read was a short single player campain was a hard pass for me.

So I am hopeful this will be good. Other than RPGs the games I like are ones like Far Cry.... but not so much God Of War...

The company my brother works for also makes Far Cry. I played through Far Cry 5 last year and a new game called Far Cry New Dawn about a month ago. Unfortunately, my brother only sent me all that stuff AFTER I had already bought it. Great games though.

I have a few of them 4 and Primal(primal was my first Plat Trophy) and I rented 5 and got New Dawn for $20. I am deep into ND... I have 2 or so missions (accourding to the counter) and 6 of the side ones where you go to a different map... and like 8 of the forts to take over on 3 star... so close to done...but thanks to the few online requierments I will not get a plat!

What's a plat?

My favourite thing to do in those games is just wander around the world clearing out the forts.

Ah, sorry. I should have known that. I don't pay any attention to my trophies. I have multiple platinum ones though. All of them are from Telltale games so there was little to no effort required to get them.

I used to beat my brother on the Nintendo 64 when we were kids. Even now he refuses to play Mario Kart with me because he knows he'll lose. And I'm a bad winner. I gloat for hours afterwards.

Not blown away by the trailer. And if that is the Emperor at the end how the hell did he survive?

I've read that it might be a clone but if that is the case, isn't that a major cop-out that p*sses all over the end of Return of the Jedi?

I'm not as into the whole Star Wars thing as many others here plus I do have a tendency to not pay attention to a lot of little details but I was thinking about how Palpatine could return. And here goes my theory (feel free to correct me on stuff):

In the trailer, it shows a destroyed Death Star. If that is the Death Star Palpatine was on when he died, then I'd guess that he either didn't die at all and is still alive among the wreckage or, more likely, he IS dead but is back as a form of force ghost. Or maybe he found out how to cheat death, as he hinted to Anakin in Episode 3.

I don't see Palpatine's return as being as issue though. From the very beginning, he's been the main villain of the series. It makes sense for them to bring him back for the finale. I also think that Obi Wan and Anakin will show up in some form or another. Ewan McGregor already had a voice cameo in Force Awakens so it's not much of a stretch to think they'll bring him back.

A force 'ghost' or a flashback would make sense ... or maybe a recording of his last wishes or instructions to his followers.

Surely he couldn't have survived the Death Star II explosion, given that he was chucked down a massive void by Vader, then the space station itself blew up. And that was Vader/Anakin's big redemption moment, so to have him survive ruins that a bit for me.

I get that he's the overiding villain from the first two trilogies but I was looking forward to something new in these films as much as I was seeing old characters return. It'll be a bit "eugh, what have we got to do to kill this dude?" if he's still ticking ... plus any death he suffers in the new film will be anti-climatic because we now know he can return.

It was already rolleyes seeing Darth Maul return in Solo after he was sliced in half and flung down a huge hole. A Palpatine return would seem like they're running out of ideas.

Of course, either way I'll be parting with cash to go see it, so its a mooooooo point biggrin biggrin
