I have just come back to prince.org and I see that a lot of threads are about TV stars and television and I just can't stand watching TV at all. I can watch something short on youtube. I despise when someone makes a vlog that takes more then 15 minutes and it basically could have been said in 7 or less. Hate make-up videos that go on and on about something that doesn't pertain to using the make-up. Anyway, just venting.

I simply don't own one. I have 2 roomates and one lives on the sofa facing a huge flat screen TV that she inheritted from her previous roomate. She watches tons and tons of Halmark Chanel. It is like Harlequin Romances of old on TV. The other roomate has his TV in his room. I waste my time so many ways but wasting my time watching TV FEELS like wasting my time. My parents watched a great deal of TV and they seemed more interested in the lives of these characters then in me. At around 17 or 18 I decided I was not going to get sucked up into that world.

We cut the apron strings with the cable company.

So it's just Netflix for us and streaming free tv shows/sports/news.

Never been a TV person. US TV is 90% ads anyways. Sucks. Can't watch Netflix or Hulu either. Nothing interests me enough these days. I'm hardly home anyways, prefer to be outside and social.

For running errands and stuff I do do audible, podcast and some 90's hiphop.

the only time i still watch tv are some live sports games (spanish football, Ch. League, and cycling)

Personally I believe the Television and serialized "binge watching" phenomenon works with the "war on fun". Going out to a concert costs for a ticket + service fees + parking/transportation + $4 bottles of water and $15+ drinks/cocktails. And usually the people just kinda stand around bored on their cell phones taking pictures of themselves (in my opinion). Going out used to be relatively affordable and a tremendous amount of fun but nowadays its more cost-effective to collect platforms and watch versus experience.

Cut the cord a few years ago and don't miss it at all.

It's actually bizarre to watch it when I'm somewhere that has it on, my perspective has changed.

I don't hate tv, but I'm very selective about what I watch. My husband and I watch mostly sports (basketball, baseball, golf, tennis), movies, a couple of sit coms and a couple of dramas. We also enjoy educational shows such as the stuff on National Geographic or History. I could live without those though, but I would want to be able to watch sports and movies.

I am from the US but when I have visited England, I have noticed the wonderful programs there. I wanted to stay inside and watch it all day. Even wanted to subscribe to SkyTV. They said it was not possible as the satellite was not pointing towards the US (or something like that)

I haven't watched TV in years. The only time the tv is turned on is when I want to watch a video on the big screen or play a game on the big screen. News is all corporate propaganda. Commercials make me want to poke my eyes out and set fire to my ears.

Apparently longer videos allow YouTubers to get paid or it helps in the search ranks or something. An annoyance of mine is long intros and long videos talking about rubbish from self-important, uninteresting hosts, much like your annoyances. And click-bait titles.

99.99% of youtube videos are downloaded and watched offline at my leisure, often played back at 1.5x-2x speed or so, depending on who I am listening to.

Soon someone else will say the same about reading books.

Or listening to albums.

I am forever grateful that I was a teen in the 70's when we may have been able to buy a concert ticket with 5 hours of pay max.

I've cut the cord too, though I am now starting to watch TV online, going from a trickle to a stream so far....
