Rate The Last TV Series You Watched

Vida - Season 1

All the characters have serious flaws in this queer Mexican-American series. At only six episodes, this is the rare TV season that's too short in that I felt I barely got to know everyone. 3.5/5

HTGAWM Seasons 1-5. I love the show, but they are really pushing it that so many people can get away with so much for so long now. 4.5/5.

What?

The Defenders

I liked the main character interactions the most, but the high quality of the initial Marvel-Netflix series wasn't there. 3.5/5

I doubt anyone is interested, but you can read scripts for the 2019 pilots here: https://disq.us/url?url=h...id=1115149

Included are the revivals of N.Y.P.D. Blue and New York Undercover, The Lost Boys, Katy Keene and the next LOST wannabe: Triangle.

NYPD Blue was an excellent series. I hope they can do it well if they revive it. Would love to see Dennis Franz reprise his Andy Sipowicz role...loved him!

Thanks for the link, will check it out.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

'we read a book called "the man in the high castle" and decided to butcher it and make an intensely mediocre, poorly acted, overly melodramatic crapdaptation of it'

i watched 2 episodes at work...i almost, but not quite, feel like refunding my pay for the time spent. utter shit, and a shining example of 'should've left well enough alone'.

'nypd blue' is up there with 'm*a*s*h' as some of my favorite television ever. stephen bochco, david milch and dennis franz are the reasons it is good. why. can't. they. just. let. good. stuff. be. good? more, more, more! 'murica! home of the 1/2 lb. bacon sriracha burger! free refills!

Better Call Saul - Season 4

Saul is a wonderfully complex character. So much can be said about the finale alone. I only wish the Breaking Bad series and even previous seasons of Saul were fresher in my memory to remember all the supporting character references. 4.5/5

Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (2019) "This is a spin-off of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, set in 1960s Melbourne. When Phryne Fisher goes missing in New Guinea, her niece, the flighty Peregrine Fisher, inherits her aunt's fortune. She decides to follow in her famous aunt's footsteps to become a private detective." I found the 4 telemovies to be quite entertaining. It's not like Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (2012- 2015) which was totally awesome with Essie Davis worship but its is good in its own right. It has a great cast led Geraldine Hakewill (from Wanted 2016-18) and I loved 60's style, the fashion and the music of that time. I give it a 4 out of 5 popcorn

i watched the first few episodes of the series when it first popped up on amazon, & found it terribly dreary & uninteresting. i don't really watch much tv or serialized shows these days, & don't see myself going back to it any time soon.

i'm a big pkd fan, but i've never quite loved that particular book. not that i think it's bad, but it never quite came together & made that satisfying mental crunch with me the way my favourite pdk books do.

i watched the first three episodes of the new netflix animated anthology series love, death & robots over the past two evenings.

i thought the first episode was fine, sort of amusing in a teenage boy heavy metal magazine sort of way. 3/5

the second episode was fun, & had a cute punchline. 3.5/5

& the third episode (the witness) was flat out great & featured stunning animation that reminded me at times of into the spider-verse's trippier moments. 5/5

i haven't really looked into who produced/created this thing, but twitter tells me that some of the team involved with the third episode were part of the animation crew that made spider-verse.

the episodes are all quite short so far (10-16 minutes) and all of them have gone down very easy, & i expect to keep watching the remainder of the series through the rest of the week.

i'm not a huge pkd fan. i like his short stories better than the few novels i've read. i was a bit underwhelmed by 'the man in the high castle', but i thought it was good. if the producers of the television show were going to veer so sharply from the source material, though, they should've just come up with something more original and not bothered putting dick's name on it...the novel is indeed a good launch pad for all kinds of interesting ideas.

incidentally, there's a cartoonist called zak sally (former bass player for a band called low) who is working on a comics biography of pkd...it's been a while since i've heard updates on it, but he's been working on it a few years. i think he's got a patreon to support it.

Another show i don't watch regularly but i get a kick out of it when I do, generally at bedtime. High Maintenance 3/5. Talk about a show about nothing just a guy going about his day.

Just finished season 2 of The Good Doctor - 4/5. I love the show. The first season (5/5) was just so good that it would be hard to top it I suppose. Season 2 was a bit weaker. But I think Freddie Highmore is incredible so its worth it just for his scenes alone.

On to QueerEye! I ❀ those guys.

Mariska will also break the record for longest time playing the same live action tv character. Currently it's tied by James Arness (Matt Dillon) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Crane) at 20 years. If Benson was spun off from another series that I'm unaware of, it will have already been broken by May.
