my dad never liked the apocolyptic images of the future that look more bleak or 'dirty'

But that is partially a reason I love Blade Runner[1982]

You get neon lights and a clearly futurist view on top of an dystopia Los Angeles, grimy, wet in some places.

The office to the police detective has touches of 1970s furniture and 2018 technolgoy

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968)

It's not. But it is an excellent film in its own right.

Not even close

But the opening scene where he retires the replicant was supposed to be in the original movie

The Final Cut is brilliant. One of the best sci fi movies ever made.

It comes extremely close tho. The original beats it for the score even tho the new one by Hans Zimmer is also really good.

It's definitely close. The (Final Cut version) original is my favourite sci fi movie of all time but 2049 is still probably in my top 5. Both movies are fantastic in every way.

This is an official anime film to fill in the blanks of what transpired after Blade Runner(1982)2019 a few years later and what eventially led to Blade Runner 2049

One of my all time faves ... nothing beats pouring a whisky, popping on the blu-ray and turning off the lights.

Blade Runner 2049 was really good to. Was praying it wouldn't be rubbish and was so happy when it turned out to be decent. One of the best looking films I've seen on the big screen to, it looked stunning!

you can so hear where some of Prince's inspiration came from

This piece has such a meloncholy feel to it, the title is so fitting Memories of Green(when the earth wasn't spoiled with toxics etc) When the replicant Rachel looks at a photo of herself as a child.
