Of course, he was closely based locally in Los Angeles these days.. With his notable films dealing with NY in some way or another. He'd been on a bit of a social tear last year, appearing in so many screenings around the area, ripe with his sense of humor and wit. Lucky enough to have attended a bunch of those.
He'd also toured some appearances of the recent bio doc "KING COHEN #KingCohenMovie which features just about everybody of the era waxing on his talents and merits and his guerilla filmmaking that sometimes employed REAL reactions of people in settings which he never got permits for...

Big ones that come to mind: Fred Williamson as BLACK CAESAR getting shot in broad daylight NYC, hopping then jumping out of a cab. (real reactions/ambivalence)

Andy Kauffman (as a police officer in a St Patricks Day parade) opening fire on 5 bystanders and getting taken down. Dude just employed the actual parade as a fleet of extras...

The documentary is hilarious if you can catch it. His films are priceless for folks who have seen or sought them out. Thankfully they've gotten recent re-release treatment by many archival companies.

The dude was hilarious... Best thing I'd heard him say at a Q&A was that people wax on an on about CASABLANCA being such a great movie... and then he took it apart in like 5 sentences... Damn, I wish I had that recording.. I may have the audio somewhere.

Funny dude, hell of a body of work. Check his films out if you haven't already

dude started early in radio and comedy... 77 is a good length, but it's sad to hear nevertheless

Geez.... I can't really find a good article (in depth) about the guy's very long career..
