Thank you for this link, I really love this man. Just an intelligent, beautiful, master musician.

Awesome that he brought up what was done to Paul Robeson in this interview, that needs to be public knowledge. Paul Robeson was a creative and talented force of nature as well.

I put Don Shirley with every other master musician that has been forgotten by History.

While I understand why you would say the movie was nonsense, I would have never known of this great musician had I not watched that movie.

Shirley was no joke. 2 bad the movie really didn't focus on him and the reason why the Green Book really existed.

It's an OK movie. It doesn't bother me that it's not 100% historically accurate. It doesn't have to be. It's BASED on a true story. It's not supposed to actually BE the true story. Goodfellas wasn't historically accurate either. Now, Green Book is no Goodfellas, but the same principle applies.

I do wonder why the title of the movie is what it is. The history of the actual GB is never mentioned in school like a lot of things in the history of this country is never mentioned. I understand there is a doc coming out about its history

Now I get it Graycap. Thanks.

Dr. Donald Shirley was more than a man that can be summed up in a 2 hour movie.

He needs his own movie that has nothing to do with this hollywood bullshit.

Glad the movie exposed me to this legend but tell the whole story if you're going to do it.

What they didn't put in the movie was just as telling to the narrative they were spinning.

I recently saw an interview where I believe the director of the movie said he followed Don Shirley's direct wishes in making the movie the way he did... shrug

I went the ULTRA private screening of 'GreenBook' way before it was released last year. Back then I knew it was going to be oscar nominated. Mahershala Ali(whom I attended 'The Grown Up Awards' with a few weeks ago in which he won an award before his up coming Oscar win) was brilliant in it!
