My friends and I are going to see it tomorrow night... I am glad to hear that it didn't suck. I really expected it to suck giant horse balls.

I'm still sceptical. I heard that Rob had to trim massive scenes to get an R rating, so that doesn't bode well. I do want to see it, but I'm debating whether or not I should just wait for the uncut DVD.

Okay, I saw the movie last night. I sincerely expected the movie to suck... I was wrong. "House of 1000 Corpses" was the best horror movie in a long, long time. Rob Zombie avoided all the stupid and annoying traits of the shitty "teen" movies that are out now and made a movie that is basically a modern version of a seventies horror movie. It had the exact same feel as the seventies films that I loved as a kid and it took it farther.

I can only imagine that the uncut DVD will be absolutely great, as he had to cut a ton of stuff out and had to make a lot of changes to even get this movie released.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE...

Mind you... this movie will get SHITTY reviews. NO reviewer will like it, as it is a real horror movie in the style of the seventies horror films that I loved. The critics will call it derivative and an imitator or some crap like that... and guess what... it is. Does that hurt the film in my opinion? No.

Here is something to keep in mind about "House of 1000 Corpses." It is absolutely nothing like "Scream" or any of those other teen horror movies that have *for some unknown reason* been so popular in the past decade or so. This is a return to the almost comic book style horror of the seventies. If you didn't like "Motel Hell" or "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" or maybe "Tourist Trap" or "My Bloody Valentine," you probably won't like "House of 1000 Corpses."

"House of 1000 Corpses" is basically a mixture of a bunch of seventies movies with a decent story and a much more sinister and diabolically evil idea behind it.

This movie contains:

Extreme sadism, torture, gore, violence, surgery without anesthesia, mutilation, sacrilege and all the other things that you want.

Unfortunately, he had to cut out a TON of gore in order to get the movie down to an R rating... it was rated NC-17 the first three times to the rating board and from what I understand, he was forced to cut out over 30 minutes of the movie.

sad

I just got back from seeing this movie!

It did take me back to the slasher movies of my youth. biggrin I haven't seen one like this in a long time. Very much like "Motel Hell" and "My Bloody Valentine". It wasn't scary so much as humorous. biggrin

Thanks for the recommendation, IceNine. I LOVED IT!!!

I am SO glad that you liked it! biggrin

What you and I are talking about is what ALL reviewers will forget to notice... this movie was supposed to be derivative and kinda cheesy... it was supposed to be a throwback to the seventies and it was.

I think he did a great job!

He was still alive and his head wasn't severed... he was on a dirty, disgusting table and "Doctor Satan" was performing brain surgery on him.

dunno anything about the movie... but i do know that seeing Rob Zombie, Lionel Richie, and Trina performing "Brick House" (it's on the soundtrack) on the Tonight Show a couple weeks ago was pretty frightening confused
