I finished it... I am going to say it was good...not great.

I also do not think it was an allegory about racism.

It was a little like a twist on that "Hush" movie...

I liked that they never really show the monster. And there seems to be a flaw...or something I missed...

the last guy they let in, Gary, sees or had some drawings and then is affected... and ends up killing most of the others. Meaning that people can either be affected and show no signs or become affected with just drawings? I did not get that at all. But it could mean trouble for the sanctuary at the end.

And a pretty big flaw that was not even necessary was that they had electricity and water! Huh no. Not for more than a few days.

Seems those who are already criminally insane find what they see beautiful and now are inheriting the earth except as we see there is another group of sane people unaffected. Almost like pandoras box type of thing.

Of course not. I take the article from The Root as an attempt at satire. Unfortunately I've seen that there are those that take it literally. Poor things.

I'd prefer the story to be linear. It feels like the flash forwards were necessary for pacing and tension so it comes across as a story telling crutch rather than an interesting story telling device.

Small complaint though of an otherwise engaging film. Not a great one that I would be in a hurry to rewatch but enjoyable enough for a single viewing.

I think Gary was already affected, and was faking wellness. The drawings would have hurt Tom when he looked at them if they had that kind of power.

I do not think so... his eyes were normal... did he look out the window after that?

I think we don’t know about the eyes before Gary, we didn’t know to look.

I remember her sister’s eyes. Then forgot about them until Gary. I didn’t look into his eyes while he had the shotgun in his face.

I’ll watch it again.

I’m sticking with my original thought. No one really looked and saw Gary’s eyes until it was too late. And he couldn’t draw the monster if he had not seen it.

I dont remember. I had assumed the mentally ill's eyes may not change since seeing the creatures dont affect them the same way. It's their paradise they see. I don't remember the eyes of the guy in the store or the river. Dammit I'm going to hafta watch this again?

Fish Fingers had his head down that entire time.

Gary has his eyes close or his head turned or is at a distance when he looks at the others. I didn't notice.

We're nose to nose with Gary when we realize he's a bad guy. Maybe you have to be that close. I don't understand why the birds never exposed him.

the “Bird Box” Last Supper artwork

Malorie’s latest painting is a riff on Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, depicting pregnant Malorie at the center of a table surrounded by other people. Malorie’s take on The Last Supper is the work of art the viewer sees her working on when her sister, played by Sarah Paulson, shows up at her apartment in the film’s opening moments. Two of the people surrounding Malorie in the painting happen to be Nev Schulman and his wife, Laura Perlongo.

Schulman revealed on Instagram that he is friends with the actual artist behind the “Bird Box” Last Supper artwork, and he posed with his wife to be included in the painting. The artist behind Malorie’s paintings is Lily Morris. According to a July 2018 profile of Morris in Playboy, she’s a bicoastal artist whose work “draws on the challenging yet beautiful stories of intimacy, either between couples or with oneself.”

Ah his eyes did changed but not by much. Unlike her sister's where even the whites of the eyes change as if the blood vessels explode along with the irises and they get very watery. But since Gary was calm and reasonable and holding a conversation with them they didn't know they needed to look closer.

That opening scene brought the intensity and urgency.

but again the birds did not react to Gary! And something about being in the freezer... like with fish fingers... putting them in the freezer kept them from reacting. I do not think he was affected until he looked out the window. He put the birds in after he drew but before the reacted...

As Gary is carrying the birds to the kitchen Douglas starts to bang on the garage door for Gary to let him back into the house. Gary stops and looks up and his eyes are the monster eyes before he puts the birds into the freezer.

And the music he played was soothing. He put the birds into the freezer so he could go to the windows, rip the papers off, and start to hollering.

Eh he did all that when he got a chance to be alone. He kept his composure and acted normal when a gun was being pointed at him.
