I see no big problem with being against using animals and for killing people under some circumstances. I think that one would have to be willing to take a life at some point or there is no way to protect the animals.

if i was killing animals that were endangered would you not want someone to stop me?

To be fair, that may well have been what the person in the OP meant. And it does raise an interesting ethical question. Personally I'd prefer to stop you without killing you, or better to remove the need for you to try and make your fortune by killing the animal in the first place.
