TRON

I just killed a bird :(

I hate it when that happens. I've rarely killed any animals while driving and I always get really shaken up when this happens. I try to save ones too that I find that seem to be injured or abandoned. Has this happened to you when you ran over wildlife or someone's pet? What did you do? How did it make you feel?

In this case, there were a couple of robins that dove under my car at high speed. I couldn't slow down at all. I looked behind me and at first was relieved cuz I didn't see anything on the road. Then I saw one of them roll across the street. I turned around to check on it to see if it was just dazed or hurt, but it was already dead. cry I love animals so much and always feel so shitty when I cause them any harm. I was going 40 in a 25 mph residential area, so that doesn't make me feel any better about what I did.

Fuck. sad

Yes. sad

Whenever I see animals of any kind affected by our invasion of their living space... it cuts like a knife. Our need for cars makes it a dangerous place for innocent wildlife.

Indeed it hurts. sad

awww, i am sorry tron...

i am very sensitive to animals too. when i was a kid, my parents hated to take me anywhere, because i used to cry every time i saw a dead animal on the side of the road. now when i see one, i just try to look away, caus eit still shakes me up.
so far, been lucky though, i have never run anything over.

I once ran over a crow in a cemetary! I hate crows but I felt very bad that this bird died because of me sad You know how birds walk in the road and they fly away, sometimes at the last minute. Well I was driving and this crow was sitting in the middle of the road and I never really slowed down because I knew it would fly away. It never moved. I didn't expect that it would stay and I ran it over! I looked in my rearview mirror and saw that it was flopping. It made me feel horrible.

Yeah, me too. I ran over a cat a few years ago.

I'm still really saddened over it. Really, it sucks. I looove cats.

It was late in the eveneing and I was going home down Glendale ave in L.A. and I guess the cat was in the center grassy divider thing hunting rats and I was just driving along and suddenly I hear this thud and my car just kind of bounces a bit. 40-ish mph too, it a larger main street.

There was ablsolutely no way of stopping it. I did see from the corner of a white flash so I had some idea what might have happened. But there was just now way to stop, it happened in a split second.

I immediatley parked my car in the street, I saw the cat lying there in shock. It was heart breaking. I also noticed I had runn over the rat too. The rat was dead. But the cat was still alive. It was hanging on.

He seemed fine but when I got closer he was like lying down you know how cats lie down on their tummies with their legs spread slightly apart, well, he actually must have had internal injuries...sniff, cry , that I wanted to take the kitty to a 24hr vet, I searched for a box in the gass station, sniff, and picked him up. I knew he had internal injuries so I was extremely careful. He was looking at me, directly in my eyes...man this still tears me up...he died in my arms. I saw his life fade from him... cry ... his irisis in his eyes get smaller.

All I could do was leave him in the box at a local vetinerian hospital. Never forget that. He was a white and brown short haired kitty.

Yeah Tron, I feel you too man. It feels bad. But accidents happen. After that your driving skills change.

I actually drive the speed limit in neighborhood streets 'cause I know kitties and dogs AND children can just jump out of nowhere.

And if a pigeon or any other kind bird are in the middle of the street, I SLOW DOWN, I AVOID them, STOP. No matter what. I LET people, pedestrians walk their right away, even if the traffic behind me smokes in anger, it's their right of ways. Period.

i always try to slow down or even stop (when i can) for any animals on the road because i hate that they die on our highways.

birds usually fly away but this time of year there are newbies out there still learning to fly. it's not your fault, TRON. it was good you stopped and checked.

I have never killed any animals, well with the exception of a frog it was in the middle of the street at night. I love all animals and it would kill me to know that I killed a living thing. sad

The majority of you who are so very worried about the little birdies probably buy dozens of factory farmed chickens ever year who have been brutalized and killed. . .and virtually all of you buy factory farm eggs, which come from chickens who have been tightly confined, force-molted, brutalized, and eventually killed.

We don't need to eat animals to survive and be healthy in the modern world, so there is "no reason" to kill them.

I'm more interested in the suffering aspect than the killing aspect, and as you apparently agree, there is no justification whatsoever for factory farming.
