Jesus Of Nazareth The best Jesus movie ever made. I feel like this is the most moving portrayal of his life. It's over 6 hours of mega movie with one of the most loaded casts I've ever seen. Check out the list: Robert Powell, Anne Bancroft, Ernest Borgnine, Valentina Cortese, James Farentino, James Earl Jones, Stacy Keach, Tony Lo Bianco, James Mason, Ian McShane, Sir Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasance, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quinn, Fernando Rey, Rod Steiger, Peter Ustinov, Michael York and Olivia Hussey.
Anyone else seen this great film? What are your thoughts?

I should check it out sometime. Right now they are showing Good Morning Vietnam! on TNT (an odd choice for Easter, methinks).
And I still have to make it through Walking with Dinosaurs ( BBC ) Okay leaving now, not gonna hijack your thread TRON I mean, like, where is the sun?

Anyone else seen this great film? What are your thoughts? I saw it! Great film. I didn't like the sequel, Jesus II: The Second Coming, as much though.

Even if you only check out the last couple hours, it's worth it. And you get the message of Easter all in one dose. I feel that Non-Christians can be inspired by this film as well.

Oh man this movie takes me back. I remember having 2 watch it at school when I was 9 or 10 as Religious Educational Research or summit.
But yeah, incredible movie. I cant remember that much about it except that it was amazing. Any person who follows Christianity or believes in Jesus really should watch this film. Wow, thanx 4 mentioning this Tron. I just got a major flashback of some early days at school then. Back when I was a cute lil nipper. "...because no-one gets there alone." - "...I like the floor. It's the only thing that seems real."

Are we talking about the Franco Zeffirelli one here.. written by anthony burgess (clockwork orange)
the scene that introduces that guy who plays jesus (the baptism scene) is pure brilliance. he enters in close up. This miniseries is only marred by the frist episode which is a bit clumsy compared to the rest. God, "last temptation of christ" sucks compared to this. Seems like a tacky slapped together play. 10 Commandments is my Easter tradition.
which, when you think about it, is a really odd choice of movies to run on TV every year at Easter.

is it the one with john wayne at the end saying "well, he was truly the son of god" in that really wierd john wane accent? Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

I totally agree. It is always powerful, especially the Passion narrative. I also liked the scene where he brought Peter and Matthew together using the tale of the prodigal son. It was brilliant.
But, I do have to say, that comparing "Last Temptation" to this miniseries is apples-to-oranges. "L.T." is pure fiction, using the scriptures as a framework. And I found some of the sequences to be very powerful, especially the temptation in the desert. And Peter Gabriel's score is beautiful. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
