it's going to snow aces here in minneapolis later today and tomorrow so i went out early to get my errands run. and along the way of course (inevitably) encountered one of the craziest, stupidest mother f8cking tailgating a55hole drivers on the planet.
mind you, tailgating is NOT SMART on a sunny, clear day when the roads are at their best but when the weather is bad and roads are icy with snow (as they are here now) tailgating becomes a life-threateningly dangerously moron-stupid thing to do for everyone concerned.
anyhoo, as i sat waiting for the light to change i mused upon the fact that no matter how safely we/any one of us try to live our lives - like avoiding dangerous parts of town, not going to moonshine bars where aggressive cock-fighting types hang out, not hanging out in crack dens insulting other folks' mothers, not informing rednecks that their mullets look ridiculous, and all the other myriad safety measures and common sense steps we take to live longer - we are entirely at the mercy of others when we are driving.
because there is ONE place in the world where all of us will rub shoulders whether we want to or not - the roadways. we will encounter meth-addled idiots, schizophrenics off their meds in a bad way, suicidal drunks, assassins, drug dealers, aggressive women-beating effheads, and the like on the roads. they are next to us at the lights, behind us on the freeways, and we share parking lots with them while we shop.
so today as i waited for the light to change i was talking to me, telling me NOT to cuss that room-temperature IQ tailgating effwad out, but rather to simply pull off the road first chance i got in order get him to stop tailgating me in his crapped up truck. it worked too. i just got out of his way then watched as he sped forward to ride up on the back of the vehicle in front of me. idiot.
ps: i was going to finish up with "please please never ever tailgate", but then i realized this is the ORG and we are all of us far too cool to ever do such a dangerously stupid thing.

I'm not sure when I wll die, but I'm relatively sure how I will die. It will from murder by someone at whom I've flashed my lights on-and-off because it's night and they don't realize their headlights are off.
I'm only trying to help but I'm sure that one day some redneck is going to think I'm hitting on him and will pull out his 12-gauge and scattershoot me to Heaven. And he still won't turn on his headlights.
Rodeo your mind sure makes some strange turns...
Still hope this does not happen to you.
I figure I'm saving lives. At night you cannot see a car without its lights on.

Tailgating is a right of passage in these parts, so folks either get bored and go around or they get the hint and back off. I dread the day when attitudes in these parts change and behavior becomes even more aggressive.

Yeah, I get it. It's the murder that I was referring to.

I can remember driving and looking at a man with a dog tied in the back of his pick-up and thinking "I wish it was you in the back of the pick-up who could get choked and dangle as if at the end of a hangman's noose if there was an accident!" I had a tail gater over the summer get pissed at me. He was right up on my tail and it always scares me, because if I have to slam on my brakes for any reason... So I slowed down by 5 mph for a few seconds and then sped back up. The universal, "Hey dude, you are way too close, back off some..." Anyway, that pissed him off because first chance he got he went around me, then swerved in front of me and almost clipped my front end. Then he slammed on his brakes. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve to the side of the road to avoid him. I got back on the road and he waited for me, than slammed on his brakes again and stopped completely in that lane, causing me to slam on my brakes again. I remember thinking, "He's going to get out of his vehicle and come back and shoot me." But then he took off, driving like a bat out of hell. So I sped up, got a picture of his license plate and called highway patrol. (We were on a busy highway when all of this happened.) Hwy Patrol told me there wasn't anything they could do since they didn't see the incident. :-/ People are nuts are on the highways.

All they have to do is roll up the window some more. I watched a man chase his dog, it was one of those Marmaduke dogs or something, around his truck in the middle of the street. He wouldn't heel for shit. We all stopped and waited, and I was cracking up, but he/she could have been hurt.
...Oh, and, when some crazy brave person got out to help, the dog went to their human to "protect" him, and that's when he grabbed the dog.

I see a lot of dog business at stop lights.
When the dog and her man were crossing the street, the dog grabbed her leash with her mouth, and walked the man across the street. It was so cute!
Edit: His to Her. Had to be an irresistable bitch.

The guy I saw had his dog tied in the unenclosed bed of the pickup truck--no windows. The dog could have hung itself if it got thrown from the vehicle... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I think a dog lover would have had the dog riding in the cab. I guess I would have been thinking, "He doesn't like dogs."
