That's very cool, but to me that's been the problem. I can't commit to a cause, I too tend to do things randomly when I have downtime and for me it's worse because I do that once a year or so. Trying to be more proactive and incorporate volunteer work in my weekly schedule...thanks for sharing!

Small gestures still help. And I definitely understand finding it hard to commit to a specific thing there is so much need. But you are only one person and you can't save the world. Save one.

I don't doubt that you read it. I read a story online about Michael Jackson plotting a big comeback next year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Off The Wall but reading something online (or in the paper) doesn't mean that it's true.

Umm...sorry? Do you have any clue how the web works? Google, the search engine, comprises many many computer servers, which *do* the actual searching - they run on electricity, yeah? ...I don't see what's so unbelievable about it....?

True, but I'm guessing those servers will be there doing their thing whether I Google search or not ... if everyone stopped using Google, maybe that would make a difference, but then its unlikely to happen and they'd be using something else to search with instead. Can't uninvent the internet.

In New York....

Organics collection is our curbside recycling service for food scraps, food-soiled paper and yard waste. Just like traditional recycling of paper, cardboard, metal, glass and plastic, residents separate these items and put them in brown bins that we provide. These organics are collected weekly and turned into compost and clean energy.

We currently serve 3.5 million residents in all five boroughs with curbside organics service. We provide collection to residents and also work with apartment building managers to bring our services to high-rise apartment buildings. We hope to continue expanding this program in the future, with the goal of eventually providing service to all New Yorkers.
