haha we think alike, I don't always get a Christmas cup but I like cool interesting ones and will buy.

Yes it would be cheating if you drank from it now, Black Friday night is the go ahead

I think what I miss about the Christmases of my youth were Christmas Cantatas and caroling from house to house, when people would invite you in afterwards for snacks and hot chocolate... Very welcoming after trudging through the snow... And the Christmases at my grandparents' farm when we would go out and find a tree to cut down and decorate with hand-made decorations and family heirlooms from the attic... And sledding down icy hills... Lots of good memories! Of course, I'm ignoring the bad part of familial holiday get-togethers... razz lol

After a heavy snow, my mom would bring in a big bowl of it and make snow-cream. She doesn't do it anymore, and I just buy a pint of Haagen Dazs Cherry Vanilla. lol

lol I forgot about that! We kids used to do that, too, only we poured koolaid on top so it was more like a Snowcone... razz lol

me too smile I prefer the fun, festive Christmas songs as opposed to the slow, sad songs. You know that classic song "Christmastime Is Here"? That one sounds really sad to me,for some reason.

yeah it does. But I think it is a good kind. It always reminds me to sit and be silent for a big and reflect and be thankful. The version from Charlie Browns Christmas is one of the best to listen to. And a great christmas album

I love the Christmas/winter holiday season. I love the music and the festive vibes and the decorations. I will be minimizing my gift-giving and giving cash as much as possible. I am on a mission to drastically reduce my consumption of plastic and my resist plastic mentality will apply during the holiday season as much as any other time of year.

That's great... This Christmas won't be as special as it used to be...my sister moved out of state...and this will be the first Christmas haven't spent with my son in 30 years... sad But, I was very lucky to do that for so long... It will still be a good holiday season...

My son moved to another state and is engagd to be married--so this will be my first Christmas ever without my son being here for Christmas; lucky to have had that for so long... Plus my sister just moved..but it will be good anyway, spending the time with old friends still here...Oh, yeah, no problems--they're saving money for the wedding (and so am I). LOL

Whew, ok . I can feel your ache though. hug
A bit bittersweet, joyous and sad. Its hard starting a new chapter in life. Enjoy your time with your friends, though. Party hard, but not too hard.
wink

Thanks, and I hope you will have a good holiday season, too! wink I'm just feeling a little melancholy...looking through old photos. I will cook and spend time with my old friends here...and the grandsons of my best friend. But she will be absent and her daughter because they have both passed on...so, as you say, it will be bitter-sweet and joyous at the same time... hug right back at ya! biggrin
