The commercial build-up and pressure people feel leading up to this day is herd-mentality insanity. That's without going into the BS 'religious' and Coca-Cola perversions. The best days of the year are unbranded, unmarketed and unexpected and not controlled by any religious-corporate gatekeeper whores or so-called non-profits.

Every day of the year has been claimed by one of these self-serving whores and the best way out of it is to not participate in any of their BS.

The best thing about the end of year is spending more time with others and spending no money on any of them for 'expected' gifts on the 25th, nor expecting any gifts from them on the day. Nor ever mentioning the Herd Words 'Happy Christmas' or 'Merry Christmas'.

Ignoring it all by just living another day without pressures or expectations for the most overhyped day of the year. We should all make our own special events throughout the year with zero influence of Gatekeepers and Profiteers and Social Engineers.

Believe it or not, I really hadn't noticed the humbugery that was taking place. I was so overjoyed my G+ items reappeared after a couple of weeks of completely disappearing I got caught up in how to post some of the pix I had stored away.

Now to another of our senses.

seriously?

boy you sure got behind your pulpit podium lol

ehhh

[Edited 11/12/18 8:42am]

If by pulpit podium you mean my chair, then yes. Seriously.

What I've commonly seen on this day (in my family growing up) is the highest stresses ever and of course more pressure than any other day of the year (without even going into the lies we are fed and accept without question, like robots). People acting all in unison with the most frightening, predictable lemming-like programming (must do this, must do that, what will so-and-so think), fake sentiment and Herd Words so overused that they have lost all meaning.

I simply don't participate, don't use Herd Words and make it a point to treat it like any other day, stress-free and without any expectation. I absolutely despise the whole build-up to it...the lemming-like behaviour, etc. It's not only Christmas either but you probably don't want to get me going on all the other days of the year that have filth attached to them since inception.

Make your own special days in your own way.

One of the parties I have, everyone is required to bring about 10 speciality Christmas cookies.
Prefered homemade(personal or family recipies) but quality store bought will work.
And I have a table set aside for the sweets with the person(s) who made it name.

You speak on behalf of yourself, not others. If the topic of Christmas is brought up in General Discussion, I will answer with my thoughts (the 'dark cloud' as you condescendingly put it).

Make sure you watch the extended versions. When my cousin came to live with me and I found out she'd never seen LOTR, we stayed up all night watching the complete trilogy. The extended versions at that. After Return Of The King ended I asked what she thought. She fucking hated them all LOL.

Well, my boxset is old, though it's supposed to be an extended version, but I know other extended versions have come out since. I think I'm good with what I have, though. My family cannot stand LotRs, but dammit they've all sat through at least one full viewing of my boxset so we're good, they can ignore me while I enjoy and be happy. But they'll have to listen for days on end, bwah haha.
