England (all of my English ancestors were in the US before 1700 - at least two families came on the Mayflower) and Germany. The Germans got here the latest - I think the last of my ancestors arrived in 1875.

On my dad's side, his mother was the 10th generation born in the United States (she's the one with Mayflower ancestors) and his father was the first generation born here (his parents arrived from Germany in 1875 - some of his siblings were born in Germany).

From what is now "Chihuahua, Mexico",... and before that.. prob "Pangea" though people want to suggest that whole political "bering land bridge" thing....

Let's be real, there were nomadic people, there were floods, there was history washed in mud. There were foreigners, there were clowns (with tall hats), there were killers that mowed things down.

The world doesn't have a complete fossil record so "evidence" is lacking on all terrains, what points to theories remain that, credible speculation.

Sooo... I guess long explanation... from here. the fam travelled north and northwest depending on the year, as far as sonora. Then apparently we got Spanish-ized,....and intermixed with some black folks from who knows where (haven't gotten the dna thing... it sounds hella intrusive the way they've been done.) and we have a spanish last name, of origin which I'm not certain. It's not a common one either.

Tarahumara/Yaqui/"Black" [unknown origin]/ Spanish last name via "Mexican" (Mexican is NOT an ethnicity) father from Zumpango, Mexico.

So... pre-Mexico grounds. "USA", "Mexico"

I have to get the Ancestry.com kit to see what it says. My sister and niece got their kits.

My mothers family are all Irish with a few English and my fathers are mostly Maori with some English and a dollop of French 6 generations back. Somewhere in my DNA report It says I am 11% Scandinavian (Possibly Norwegian or Danish) and dying to know where that is from.

I was born in Christchurch New Zealand in 1980 and have lived in New Zealand all my life. Most people here are descended from British and Western European migrants who arrived here between 1840 and 1914. Mostly English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish with a few French, German, Danish and Americans for good measure.

Not many came from Greece, Italy or Spain as it was not that attractive climate wise, but we had significant numbers of Dalmatians who came around 1900 to dig gum, post war (1950s) Polish and Dutch migrants, Pacific Islanders in the 1950s/80s and since 1990 many Asians from China, Taiwan, Korea and Vietnam.

My DNA Report had me at 69% European - Ireland 44%, Scandinavia 11%, UK 4%, Russian, Saami, Italian, Spanish, French and East European (All 1 - 3%)

31% East Asian including 3% China/Taiwan and 28% Polynesian (Maori)

No Native American or Sub Saharan African ancestry.

This is most likely from your English/Irish forebears. I can trace my lineage all the way back to Norse and Danish invaders of England prior to 1000 AD.

I don't know how someone with 31% East Asian ancestry can describe him- or herself as "white rice."

White rice was a joke like Potato (Yellow on outside, white on inside)

The Maori people were descended from Lowland Chinese and Taiwanese aboriginal people (Such people still live in the Taiwanese highlands now - they are basically modern day Asian people and also ancestors of Han Chinese). Some Maori and Polynesians have "Oceanic" meaning they have Melanesian and Papuan admixture and some Maori tribes do (Mainly darker ones) whilst lighter ones don't.

Thanks for the ex on the Danes, as I have 2 xclearly English great grandparents (One born UK in 1905 and other born in 1904 of English/Jersais Parentage) and yet I got 4% English!
