- Great to see Gregory go, but did Maggie really need to make such a pantomine of it all? Surely round the back of the barn with a bullet to the head would have been easier and more humane.

- Speaking of Maggie, she's fast becoming a villain in my eyes ... just not a nice character to spend time with anymore.

I love this "new" Maggie biggrin After everything that she's been through,it's easy to undesrtand why she's behaving this way.Rick wimped out by not killing Negan, but Maggie is showing that she will be the "tough" one. She's showing that she's the boss and that crimes will not go unpunished.I like it.

I agree.I really hope that they don't kill him off.Better to just have him mysteriously disappear. That would leave the door open for his return (if the actor ever wanted to come back).

Imagine Rick coming back for a one-off to save the day and kick-ass in about three years or so ... that would be awesome! Though they way things get spoilt these days I can't see how they would be able to film it without news of Andy Lincoln being on set getting leaked confused

I know it´s part of the concept of TWD to kill popular characters every now and then but to be honest, I´m getting a bit tired of it, especially after one has grown accustomed to certain characters.

I hope they don´t kill him off and leave a door open for him to come back in the future, just like they did with Morgan.

This Sunday night,The Walking Dead returns biggrin I always get excited when a new season begins.Gonna get some grub and watch the season premiere.I turn it into a little party, lol.

We normally host a gathering at ours for the season premiere ... last three years have been great, some nice food and drink, good company, etc. Last night it was just me and the missus though as all our other friends have ditched the show after last season sad

Was season 8 really that bad?

I´ve honestly enjoyed every season so far, even the ones that people disliked. I think All Out War could´ve been a bit shorter, and the prison season was also a tad long, and the farm (season 2 or 3?) was also a bit long but all in all, I really still like TWD a lot.

But then again, I also enjoyed every season of LOST, even the last one, and I like FTWD, too, so maybe I´m just not critical enough. lol

Season 8 was frustrating to watch smile there were several times when Rick could have easily killed Negan, but he didn't,smh. And then there was Carl's death.....sort of a depressing season.

True.

I wish they hadn´t killed off Carl. Killing him off was, in my opinion, a bit too much, especially since he does not die in the comicbooks and technically they did not really have to get rid of him. Felt a bit sorry for the actor, too. Many fans hated his guts but I actually liked him and didn´t find him annoying at all, and I liked his strange bond with Negan. That was a really interesting development and wish they had stuck a bit more with the original story here but I must admit that I don´t really follow the graphic novels and get most of the info onlinea or from Dave T. lol

And Rick not killing Negan even though he had the opportunities was getting a bit silly, too.

I wonder what the overall direction will be after Rick´s gone. After all, it all started as his story, and in essence, still is....at least for now.

The whole show would feel very different, at least to me, after Rick´s story comes to an ending.

As much as I like Daryl he's not a lead for me, not the way his character is written ... he's not a conversationalist, and I don't think the show will work being led by a character who barely talks and is in a sulk 80% of the time.

lol i still think the producers have him slotted as the new "rick" figure. imo he'll pull it off and maybe his character will even blossom along the way

No doubt Reedus has the acting chops ... and I'd like to see that to ... I just don't think the show writers have the skill to write Daryl as anything other than one-note.

Those little moments when he's come close to being something more than just 'grumpy biker dude' have been some of the best moments though, like when he was carrying dead Beth in his arms ... would be superb to see more of that.

the show won't have a choice....they will have to beef up Daryl's role. He's a fan favorite.I also think they'll give Michonne more to do,and Carol too...especially if the rumors about Maggie leaving are true.

my only problem is this...when are we gonna move on from the constant feuds and wars? This whole “us vs.them” direction,we’ve seen it again and again on this show.I know it’s ridiculous to expect everyone to live peacefully all the time, but everyone should have a common goal to stay alive and defeat the walkers, not each other!

Just a minor gripe. The season is fantastic, for the most part.

Nine seasons in, the show has been 'rumbled' that its main schtick is variations on the us vs them plot. I was hoping the time jump would bring something fresh but it seems to be falling back on to old story habits still.

The comics do a walker 'reminder' every now and then with herds of ever increasing size coming along to disrupt the story, but even that's gotten a bit laughable because its like how much bigger can these herds get? When the show started a small group of 2 or 3 zombies was quite scary. Now, if there's less than 10 or so you know there's no threat.

Having said all that, I'm still loving the show biggrin ... they just better let Rick walk off in to the sunset; killing him may ruin the show for me. I sense it coming though. That Grimes-family-fun-day thing this week, both me and the missus watched that scene and said 'they're so killing Rick off'.

I think either Maggie or Daryl will get to Negan, Rick will step in at the last minute to stop what they're doing, and Daryl/Maggie will end up killing Rick by mistake instead. Cue Maggie leaving or Daryl becoming a better man to honour Rick ... and enter the Whisperers.

I heard that, after the midseason finale (when Rick dies),the show will do another time jump.I think that, when it comes back several months later,we will see Michonne with her and Rick's baby eek yes,I believe that Michonne will get pregnant and have Rick's child (a boy).

". . . Andrew Lincoln has shared a letter, officially bidding farewell to The Walking Dead. The apocalyptic action-drama, based on the series of graphic novels by Robert Kirkman, is currently in season 9. For nearly a decade since it was first brought to the screen by Frank Darabont, the show has enjoyed a reigned as one of the biggest shows on television. . ."

“Thank you...

For coming with us on this journey. For the nine years of fear, heartache, anger and, let’s face it, guts you’ve shown by making it through these 115 episodes and counting. And for services to journalism that go way behind any civilised levels of human endurance.

For understanding that despite the high volume of undead, this is actually an ongoing story about what it is to be alive. A story of hope, family and friendship. People with nothing in common discovering that they have everything in common. United in their search for humanity and a place to call home. A story that has perhaps even more relevance now than it did when we began.

It’s been the most exciting, challenging and satisfying role of my career — and for the best part of a decade, the greatest adventure of my professional life. This season feels like the show I fell in love with all those years ago, and the world we were always heading toward when we wrapped the pilot episode.

By my own rough count, I’ve killed over 400 zombies during the apocalypse. Lost a horse, found a horse. Lost a girl... that didn’t go well. Ate a dog once. Wore a meat poncho twice. Escaped from a bunch of hipster cannibals. Not to mention I’ve been shot twice, baseball batted, stabbed three times, bit a man’s throat out (I’m sorry — that was weird — and tasted like chicken), and had my cowboy boots resoled... 12 times.

We began as an indie movie, and years later became a three-letter acronym (wtf?). And along the way, we’ve had the unique pleasure of meeting zombie enthusiasts all over our beautiful blue planet. From Tokyo to Trinidad, people have been united by their love of this story of survival... and Norman Reedus’ extraordinarily luscious hair.

It’s been a wild ride, shaped by the relationship between the show and the fans of the show, and in no small part you good people of the press.

I look forward to following your coverage of the show and my friends in Atlanta for seasons to come — what they have planned is quite incredible.

So thank you.

For all of it.

For the good, the bad... and of course, we wouldn’t be a free press... without the ugly.

Until our paths cross again.

Hmmm ... wonder if this means he'll be back one day smile

He seems like such a good dude, I wish Andy Lincoln all the best. How he hasn't had at least a one Emmy nomination for his acting on the show, god only knows ... TWD has been bypassed by the Emmys so much, its embarrassing. Horror remains the genre award ceremonies like to boycott. Their loss!

Re. next week, looking at the trailers and snippets we've seen so far I'm gonna guess it'll be left open to intepretation as to whether he lives or dies ... I think there might be a hint that he's taken by the helicopter people / Jaydis.

I've got a friend whose treating next weeks episode as the finale of the TWD, as he considers it to be Rick's story ... so no Rick, no TWD. Interesting way of looking at it ...
