Something for your Kentucky Derby Day Celebrations

Ingredients:

4-6 Mint Leaves
1/2 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces fine Kentucky Bourbon (like Maker's Mark from Loretto, KY)
crushed or shaved ice

Directions:

Place the mint leaves and 1/2 ounce simple syrup in a Kentucky Derby Glass (or if you don't have one, come to the Derby and get one, or just use a highball glass).

Mash the mint leaves to release the pleasant mint flavor.

Add 1 ounce of the fine Kentucky Bourbon as stated above (none of that nasty Tennessee stuff like Jack Daniels which is a Whiskey not a Bourbon);

Fill glass with crushed ice.

Add another 1 ounce of fine Kentucky Bourbon

Stir Well.

Garnish with a Mint Sprig and a Straw.
