Where do you draw the line.........

when it comes to anothers beliefs vs. yours?
I went to dinner last night with my girlfriends sister and her new boyfriend. Her sister took me aside and actually had the balls to ask me to not order anything with meat in it cause this fool shes dating is a strict veg/animal rights activist.Well of course I orderd the lamb chops. And even though I could tell he wanted to preach his bullshit,he left it alone.
I absoulutley hate it when people try and push there BS on you,or look down on others that dont share there views. What thoughts do have concerning the respect of anothers ways when they affect your own?

I think people are completely entitled to their own opinions/beliefs. And I also believe they are completely allowed to share them. Buuut...when they try to impose said opinions/beliefs on other who do not share their view, then I think it has gone too far.

Politics, religion, lifestyle choice...whatever...live/think how ya want but don't try to change how I think or live. It's rude.

I let others do their thing. I try to be respectful and not force my opinions on them and to also not insult what they believe. There are alot of people who try to force their opinion on you by insulting you or what you believe in. These are the ones who phuck it up for everyone else.
If offer some light suggestions, if they want to talk more about it we do, if they don't we move on to something different.

folks can believe whatever they want and i'll respect 'em 4 it, but if they try 2 force their beliefs on me and make me feel as if everything i believe is wrong, that's when i'll get turned off 2 'em.

Personally, I think you did the right thing (ordering what YOU want), and he did the right thing by not preaching to you.

I don't preach to anyone else about their values, and I don't want them preaching to me about mine. But I think it's normal that we as people think our way is the right way. IF they specifically ask about it, I'll tell them how I feel and why about an issue. And I don't mind them stating their case about an issue, but if it goes beyond that into imposing one's values on another it's annoying and obnoxious. Just check the P&R forum.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
