Red

It's been so long since I posted in here - took me 4ever 2 remember my user name. I rarely visit but every now and again... Was here from conception; too many years ago to count. My nic back then was M2, then I changed it to RED. Where's the original 'RudeBoy'.

I read the PPML in the late 1990s, but I don't recall the org before 2002.

1 name change

I reversed in from the holy river chat room that was on spinchat and had a link on Prince.org someone on the chat mentioned the org Benni? Starmaiden? so I joined maybe 1998?

The guy with the beaver sig used to drive the general discussion forum when imago was still in diapers lol

I remember visiting in the black screen days, but I don't think I created an account (NCC2012) until shortly after.

Been here since day one, since the black and purple days, but , like most of us, I had to rejoin the site again after the reset, so add a year or two to the number of years in my profile.

-

I still love to visit the org although I post a bit less than in my org heyday, and I like to keep my Facebook and prince.org activities strictly separated but I have a lot of orgers on my Facebook friends list ( I just don´t like to discuss Prince stuff on FB with them).

.

It´s good to see so many old school orgers still lurk or post here every now and then. Good to see Finesse, Hamster, Fauxie, JerseyKrs, RodeoSchro, Serious, Stymie, PurpleJedi, Istenzek (sp. ?),OnlyIndaUSA, Thunderfunk, Cinny, Hamad,TM Pletz, SoulAlive, Ufoclub, JustErin and so many others still on the org. But I also miss many orgers that used to post here very frequently, such as Nurse, Harlepolis, Laurarichardson,Girlbros., Senik, babyknows, Dalia etc.

I wish they´d come back again but I think some of them were banned.

.

I´ve met some wonderful people in real life through the org and some have become very dear friends that I meet and chat with every now and then or even visit quite regularly, and I am very grateful to Ben for creating this site. It is so much better than it´s reputation. And it gives me something that Facebook can´t.

.

Another good thing about it is that is very much under the radar, unlike Facebook which sometimes gets shut down in certain countries.

Mostly, yes, but it was much more civilised than here too. Less screaming lunatics.

Indeed, and less infantile treads.

ANd the design made HQ look like Web 4.0 , compared to the Org

Aisha (Harlepolis) is the only one I met from this board and ironically we used to post in the same message board but didn't know each other at the time (I didn't really pay attention to her posts/threads until afterwards, didn't even know her screenname for that matter). Our story of how we became friends was funny, she used to teach an elective class at an American college in my country (Qatar) where I was one of her students and I remember her class was the most fun and carefree. Anyway, the class' subject that day was metaphors, being somebody who always improvised & made the most out of her time, she wrote a song lyrics on the board that says "I want to to call you everyday and beg you to be near me/But I know your head is underwater, I doubt that you could hear me". She said something to the effect "Ok, this is a lyric from my fave artist, I don't think you guys might recognize him here as Michael Ja..." and I shouted "PRINCE!" lol I'll never forget her reaction, the look on her face, its like I gave her the best present and for a moment she forgot she was teaching the class until she caught herself lol we became record store buddies from that point on. I've gained SO much music knowledge from this message board more than anywhere else, but she singlehandedly broadened my music taste in a way nobody ever did before or since. Every month she would send me - among a couple of her friends - a new playlist that has absolutely NO theme, just a compilation of different random songs she would play regularly and every single song made me dig for its artist. For years, I gulped everything she gave and shared. Its amazing how our tastes were similar. When her contract expired after a few years, she didn't wanna renew it and went back to her family home in Minneapolis, the playlists and the texts grew further apart until they stopped. Last time I emailed her was a couple of years ago, she moved to Southern California with her family and settled there. One of the funniest, coolest, (sometimes feistiest lol) and kindest people I ever came across and pretty much loved among her students and collegues alike, I miss her terribly & it would've been a little bit easier had she made a social media account like a Facebook or IG or Twitter to check on her etc but I remember her strong views against them and I didn't push the subject smile
