How likely are legal proceedings?

Okay, first of all I'll tell you what happened. Two weeks ago I bought something off the internet the deal was I pay the first money and they send me the stuff. I payed the first money and they told me the stuff is coming. But it never arrived. I asked for a tracking number but they always found another excuse not to send it.

I went to the police two days ago and they told me to give them one more deadline til monday, wich I did. I then asked for the number again, telling them this was the last chance or I'll take legal actions.

I got no answer.

My brother came and wanted to help and I was down with it, because I didn't know what to do. But I couldn't even imagine how this turns out. He messaged them from my phone and threatened them.

I got blocked and now I am afraid they'll take legal actions because of the threats.

I am really mad and depressed and I can't sleep no more, I'm afraid I won't get my money back now and that my brother put me in a fucked up situation, I really don't know what's going to happen now and that shit scares me.

Now my question is, how likely is it that they take legal actions against me if so, how good are my chances that they believe me it was brother?

Depending on the nature of the threats, I doubt very much that they would take legal action against you. Especially as it seems like they were the ones involved in illegal activity by taking your money and not fulfilling their end of the bargain. So you needn't worry about any action being taken against you.

A few questions though. What was the seller that you're buying from. Is it a reputable company like Amazon or is it just some guy selling things from his basement? Also, how much money have they already taken? If it's a lot, then you should probably follow up with the police and see what they can do. If it's a small amount they've taken, you should probably just weigh up whether or not it's worth the hassle of trying to get it back. If not, you could just write it off as a learning experience and you'll know better in future.

Basically, just try to relax. You don't need to worry about any legal action being taken against you. So put that thought out of your mind. Whether you get the money back or not won't change much. You're not the first person to be scammed and you won't be the last but now that it's happened, you can make sure it doesn't happen again.

It was a group on FB and usually the admins check if there are fake acounts or not. I've been there for years now and this never happened, I always got my stuff. Well, there's always a first time. It would've been 380 Euro and I already payed 240 and that's a lot for me. I was afraid to go to the police again but I feel a bit more confident after your comment tho.

Strange enough tho, right after my brother wrote them the account was gone. I checked if I was blocked but I can't find the account with my other account so I guess someone reported the guy. I also asked my sister if she can find him but she said no.

It doesn't look good regarding getting the money back but it would do no harm to go to the police again. 240 Euro is a lot to lose regardless of you are. But if you don't get it back, it's not the end of the world and at least now you know not to be so trusting with these kinds of things. At least you didn't pay the full amount, if that's any consolation.

Well, they already got the bank account data, I hope they have a chance. Yes it was the deal to pay 240 first and then the rest when I recieve the product.

Lemme get this straight - you bought stuff on Facebook? As in, when you chucked in your card number, your browser bar was showing www.facebook.com/something?! Wow! Shouldn't FB be the one taking action, of whatever kind?? (I've *heard* of Ecommerce being possible within FB, but since I don't use it, I don't know too much about it... What does "blocked" mean exactly?)

No that's not how I did it. FB doesn't have my card number. It's group were you can sell or buy stuff. A bit like eBay.

I don't if I got blocked from sending messages or if their account hot reported because nobody can find it anymore.

They may have done this to others too. So yeah, take steps. Go to the police. You may or may not get your money back, but at least you can try. And these guys might pop up again under another name and try to cheat somebody else.

Agree with North. You are likely SOL but get them on the official radar. They are not going to come after you - they ripped you off. They have probably had plenty threats before this too. Sorry this happened, Dude.

Next time, if it's local, have them meet you somewhere with cameras. I sell on ebay and craigslist. I do gas stations sometimes, during the day, right in front. Cash & Carry. Others do banks and even police station parking lots. Chances are they did not have the item you purchased.

They won't do anything to you with the threats because that would call attention to what they are doing. The last thing they want is the law coming around. smile

I don't think anyone will go after you. If that was the case, half of the org would be behind bars.

But I would definitely tell the police as well as your bank. If you give them a proof you didn't get what you paid for and the seller didn't respond to your messages, they will give the money back to you. However, this may take some time. The hotel I was in in April charged me twice and I still haven't got my money back confused At least my bank keeps me updated.

Sue them first. It's always better to be the plaintiff.

You need to contact your bank and tell them your account info has been compromised so they don't take any more money. Oh and never do this again.

Yeah I think you're right. Maybe they deleted their account because they thought I didn't make any screenshots so I don't have any evidence of a conversation lol But I already did that a week ago.

They don't have much info of my account, unless they are hackers they can't do much with it.

Facebook it's usually safe to buy from there because the mods check everyone that comes in. I've been there for years now and this is the First time that there was a fake account

They have them here too. They are very popular. I think you have to live in the city/area to join one.
