The Americans - Season 6

The series finale ranks with Breaking Bad as one of the best endings I've ever seen. 5/5

I'm watching "The Rain" on Netflix

The very beginning really angered me.

I'm about to watch the second episode. Let's see if it gets better.

The roommate and I just marathon'd This Is Us onDemand. We enjoyed it immensely.

I'm currently in the middle of season 2 of The Handmaid's Tale, which is totally off-book. The first season covered Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel. Season 2 is all new stuff. I love this show.

I'll also throw in the most recent season of Homeland. With next year being its last ever, the way they left Carrie at the end of this season, I'm shook (and so is she!). It is going to be a very interesting journey next year. But I am ready for it to end.

EDIT: My friend is starting her weight loss journey. She's been watching My 600lb Life on TLC. She's got me watching it! Damn it!

Picnic At Hanging Rock (2018) I binged the 6 part series on Foxtel the other day......it wasn't too bad (even though the music score was really annoying) and Natalie Dormer is phenomenal as Mrs Appleyard, especially in Episode 6 where she totally slayed worship , however I still prefer the OG of 1975. I give it a 3 out of 5 popcorn

Yes! I was a bit baffled by (trying not to post spoilers) Stan in that one scene but now I get the conflict... there were SO many subtle expressions on Noah Emmerich's face, all actors were amazing. And OMG, that moment on the train... I was literally gasping and holding my breath. Anyway, the final season and episode sealed the deal. 10/10 overall. Could be nitpicking here and there, but whatever.

Just got out of hospital on Thursday and I've been advised to rest while I recuperate. I'm not one for following doctors orders but just this once, I've decided to comply. So yesterday, which was Friday, I sat down and decided to finally watch Atlanta. I've had it recorded since it first aired but hadn't watched it yet. So I started watching and before I knew it I had watched the entire first season. In one day. And it was so good that I'm kicking myself for not watching it sooner. Seriously, it's one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Funny, at times weird, thought provoking, genuinely great viewing. The second season has already aired in America but I don't know when they'll be showing it over here but it can't come soon enough.

ATLANTA gets a massive FIVE STARS from me.

Game of Thrones Season 7 (2017)

The series just continues to get better as it gets bigger.

I rewatched the entire series of Game of Thrones. There were only two episodes that bored me. To compensate for the critics who invent problems with the show I'll give it a 26.8.

I rewatched season 7 shortly after it aired. The last episode of it is just WHOA. One of the best endings to a season yet.

Watched the original Twin Peaks again (I watched the show a couple times before that years ago) and gearing up to watch Twin Peaks: The Return for the first time. The easiest starstarstarstarstars ever!

The 90 minute finale was great from beginning to end (and what an ending!). Should be an epic premiere when it comes back.

The prequel movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, is important to watch before you watch The Return.

I absolutely love Twin Peaks. "The Return" is quite different to the original two seasons but yet it could never be mistaken for something that isn't Twin Peaks. There's simply nothing else on TV like it.

The Searcher (2018) A 2 part doco about evolution of Elvis's music. On the plus side I loved seeing the never before seen photos, audio and visual outtakes (especially from the 1968 Comback Special) etc. However, it would have been really cool to find out what albums he had in his personal record collection. Neverthless, it was really nice to see a doco that mostly focussed on his music, and I give this a 4 out of 5 popcorn

^^^Saw part one last night, great show and focused on the music. It also gave me a different perspective of him as a musician, there was a time when I felt disdain against him to be honest, but my views have changed since then. On a non-musical related note: he was one gorgeous man! love

On the negative side, it is predictable and seems to liberally draw from Glee, Fame, and Smash but is not as good as any of those shows were in their first year (Glee went way down after that IMO). They have all the stereotyped characters you would expect from this type of show such as the jock who really wants to do theatre, the closeted gay character with extremely religious right parents, the rebel teacher who is the only adult who wants to stay true to his artistic vision, and the principal who is an antagonist and is constantly wanting to shut the show down.

On the positive side, the musical featured in the show is the wonderful Spring Awakening. While the play received a lot of accolades, it is barely known outside of theatre circles and never was much of a boxoffice smash. So, kudos to the producers who featured a relatively unknown musical for tv audiances. Also, the cast does an excellent job in performing it. Another plus is that it features Rosie Perez, who I haven't seen a years. There is also an interesting spin in which the male teacher who is producing Spring Awakening is very judgey of his jock son rather than the more traditional dynamic of the macho father who rejects his theatre loving son.

Despite it not being that good, I am a sucker for these type of shows in part because high school was such a hard time for me. So, I actually enjoyed the show despite my mediocre rating. After I finished watching it, I decided I was looking forward to the next season until I googled it and saw that it was cancelled. To quote a song title from Spring Awakening, that is understandable but "Totally Fucked"!

Hangin With Mr Cooper (1992-1997) Out of the 5 seasons it was on, the first season was my fav because had a modern Three's Compnay vibe to it, and it had EnVogue with Dawnn Lewis, Holly Robinson-Peete singing the awesome theme song....I give the series a 4 out of 5 popcorn

I thought it was incredibly funny when it was new, but I'm giving it a 6/10 this go 'round. It's good but not as funny to me as I seem to remember.
