some people (not saying anyone here) use the internet to meet someone so they don't have to deal with an everyday, normal relationship--so they can keep the interaction idealistic and like a fantasy. none of the real-life mess.

sure, as real as once or twice a month (or whatever) allows. but physical distance between lovers has been shown to eventually put a great deal of stress on the couple and is one of the top factors contributing to people breaking up when dating. eventually the couple has to decide whether or not to be together in person more consistently, very very few can deal with being so far apart for so long. because as the emotional intimacy grows, the desire for physical intimacy and proximity also grows.
