So, what did we all think folks?

Was a great midnight showing last night, pretty much a full screen and everyone was respectful, no talking, loud eating, etc ... do love a midnight showing with fans that know how to behave.

Initially, I loved the film when we left the screening, but the more I mulled on it a couple of things bugged me:

- Loved the downbeat ending, but they're fooling no one with the characters they supposedly 'killed off' at the end. Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Spiderman ... they've already announced these characters are getting sequels, so we already know they're coming back.

- Loki is dead ... yeah, we've been there before haven't we.

- Post credit sequence. Funny line from SLJ as he disappears, but other than that completely predictable ... another 'tease' for a character we already know is coming. Hardly a revelation.

Still really enjoyed it, but Marvel have set the bar very high on their films and I'm not sure this one quite got there.

Avengers: Infinity War' Brings In A Marvel Record $39 Million

Thursday’s midnight showing of “Avengers: Infinity War” is officially Marvel’s most profitable preview night ever, according to Box Office Mojo.

The movie, the culmination of 10 years of Marvel filmmaking, brought in $39 million Thursday night domestically. That’s more than the early showings for “Captain America: Civil War” ($25M), “Black Panther” ($25.2M), or “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($27.6M).

In “Infinity War,” the Marvel universe’s most dangerous villain, Thanos, is searching for all six of the legendary infinity stones. Each stone, somehow mentioned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the last decade, controls an aspect of the universe: power, space, time, soul, mind, and reality.

If Thanos gets his hands on all six, he’s basically a god. And only the Avengers stand in his way.

“Avengers: Infinity War” officially hits theaters Friday. Analysts say it could gross a mind-blowing $500 million globally at the box office this weekend.

This movie is history in the making.Ive'been waiting for this movie since I picked up my first comic at the age of 11.There has never ever been a movie like this!People can nitpick and find little things in this movie and say it's not perfect just to sound like a film snob but to me I couldn't of asked nothing more or less from this movie.5/5 10/10 100/100.

I also like DC comics even though Marvel is my favoriite and I want DC to do good but after this movie I seriously don't know what DC is going to do.

My guess would be that anyone who died in the final sequence will return after a bit of time travel shenanigans. But the likes of Loki are gone for good. I've seen the movie twice now, went again with my daughter today, and I love it even more. OK, it's predictable that most of the characters who have been killed will return in some capacity but that's not the point. The fact is, in previous MCU movies the good guys always find a way to win. But with Thanos, not even 30 or so superheros stood a chance. He was built up as a powerful villain and this movie showed just how powerful he is. Half the population of the universe, found out the hard way how powerful he is. And now the deck is REALLY stacked against the heroes in Avengers 4 because now that we've seen what Thanos can do with the click of his fingers, no character will be safe from death.

See, I'm pissed about them doing that with Loki. Loki was mine and my daughter's favorite, just something about him. I'm still hoping they'll bring him back.

My theory is that Thanos, while enjoying the world with half the population gone, believing he had done the right thing, will begin to miss Gamora, will realize that the sacrifice was more than he thought it would be, would take more out of him. I think he will try to bring her back. My daughter (14) pointed out how with superhero movies, it is always the good guy that wins, that never truly suffers. But in this movie, it's the bad guy that wins, and the superheros that were left, they are the ones suffering, and that they will need to explore that suffering more in the next movie before they bring anyone back. But we both agreed that it will be the Time Gem that is used to bring them back. I think Thanos will try at first to create the world the way he wants it, including any of the superheros he decides to bring back, but it will be whatever they did when they were uploading the different parts of the Mind Stone. If you remember in the movie, (I can't remember who said it) that the Mind Stone contained parts of Stark, Thor, and Vision (I can't remember if there were others that were a part of the Mind Stone). So they were uploading those elements of the Mind Stone. Somehow that will play a part in the next movie.

Robert Downey Jr. has already indicated he wants to be done with the Avengers movies after Avengers 4, and Chris Evans has indicated he wants to get behind the camera in the future. My guess is that Steve Rogers will die in Avengers 4 and someone else will take the mantle of Captain America. But it's possible that Tony Stark may die as well.

I've read that Hawkeye was deliberately kept out of Infinity War as he's on some secret mission elsewhere that will tie in to the ongoing story (I've also read that Jeremy Renner is the one cast member the others don't really get on with, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt).

Word is Ant-Man & Wasp will deal with the fall out of Infinty War. Apparently the story will deal with Scott trying to find Hank Pym's wife (Michelle Pfeiffer) whose been missing in the 'quantum zone' for decades ... my guess is that they find her but also discover something that could help defeat Thanos.

The other tit-bit I've read is that the original Avengers cast have been seen on set wearing their old costumes from the first Avengers film in the battle of New York scenes ... so there may be some sort of time travel back to that event, for what reason I don't know ... maybe to retrieve or destory the Tesseract stone?...

It was a bit too long, like all of the Avengers movies are, but fairly enjoyable. Better than Ultron, and I liked having the Wakanda setting.

But as DaveT said, they're fooling no one with this storyline.

They're not trying to fool anyone. Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release 3 months after Avengers 4. We know the characters are going to come back. Marvel know that we know the characters are going to come back. It's all about HOW they come back.

The problem was that they were billing this as a movie where there were going to be real casualties. Like you said, they "disappeared" characters we knew are in for the next phases.

Then again, superheroes in print and on film get enough resurrections to make Jesus do double-takes.

I didn't know that. And even if I did, I wouldn't have believed it with Avengers 4 coming out next year. So my expectations about the movie were met. Loved it.

Besides it'd be refreshing to see a movie that takes the concept of 'sacrifice' more seriously for once.

It was Fury sending a message to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to come help. I guess she's in exile somewhere, retired, etc. Her film is out next year, set in the early 90s, so we'll find out where she is then I guess. The pager message was her logo:

1. Definitely ... he was really well handled. Not just a super angry, shouty, I wanna rule the universe villain ... he was measured, smart, had logic to what he was doing ... you could almost see his side of things even if you didn't agree with his methods.

3. Black Panther was the last big Marvel film out before this so I guess they figured his screen time was fresh in the memory, so lets give air time to the others. Plus Black Widow is probably the last big character not to have her own movie yet, so I'm cool with her getting more time in the Avenger films.

4. I'm fairly sure the real 'sacrifice' will come with the next film, once the other supposedly dead characters come back . I thought it would be Ironman or Cap.America that they killed off, but I'd remove Ironman from that list now given that they teased killing him in Infinity War. I reckon they still might kill Cap, and maybe Thor now after that emotional speech he gave to Rocket about all his loved ones being dead ... it was very "I've got one last day 'til retirement" sort of thing ... plus he gets to move on to Valhalla

Except for some details (like no Lady Death), it was a faithful adaptation of the comic's story. If I was still 12, my head would have exploded in the theater. I really liked how Thanos was the main character and we spent time getting to know his motivations. Im glad they didn't waste Josh Brolin. Can't wait for part 2!

I was thinking about that too, but they did something slick. The Red Skull looks like Lady Death in that black cloak, he's just red. I think they made him resemble Lady Death, and had the reason why he was there. I was wondering what happened to him

The arc with Thor and the Rabbit could have been a whole movie to me

Box Office: ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to Hit $1 Billion in Record Time

Disney-Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” is set to join the billion-dollar club in record time.

The tentpole, which just topped $900 million at the global box office within nine days, is expected to hit $1 billion by Friday or Saturday — its 10th and 11th day of release, respectively. Another Disney film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” reached that mark in 12 days.

Disney reported that Thursday’s worldwide total was $48 million — $15.5 million domestically and $32 million internationally. The overseas number included Russia’s $4.9 million opening, making it the biggest industry opening day of all time and becoming the first movie to ever sell more than a million tickets in a single day.

The domestic total for the first week is $338.4 million, with the upcoming weekend expected to generate at least $100 million more. The international total has hit $566.7 million.

I also think that's most likely the reason Banner couldn't turn himself into Hulk. Even though that wasn't Hulk's first defeat, he seemed somewhat startled during the fight against Thanos and I think that was the first time I saw that kind of expression from him. This is pretty interesting because if that's the case we may get to see the backstory of Banner/Hulk relations in depth in the next Avengers film. Banner's tragic upbringing, his relationship with his mom and his abusive father - and the real reason why Banner's "always angry" and all that.
Another theory on why Hulk won't come out I've heard is that Banner's glad to be back on earth but Hulk probably is pissed about having been shipped back to the planet he didn't want to return to. In Ragnarok(2017), Hulk didn't want to come back to Earth because he thought everyone there hated him. To some degree I think it's understandable why Hulk doesn't want to come out and fight for the Earthlings now.
