I don't remember that, but it's been 30 years since I read it. Remind me?

Bill was in the Thrift store where he finds Silver (his bike) and the radio asks a trivia question to win the "new Prince album" and it says he knew the answer but he did not want the new Prince Album. I assume it was Around the World in a Day (I think later part was set in 1985)

cool Thanks!

So many movies made from Steven King novels that I forgot. Some good; some not so good. I remember reading The Dark Tower series in the 90s and being so excited for a sequel that never happened until 2012. Still haven't read it. I heard the movie adaptation wasn't good... I'm still stuck on that subway train, I guess....

i heard that too but when i watched it i really liked it. hope there is a sequel

Stand By Me (1986) River Phoenix's peformance was amazing worship That camp fire scene where he talks about getting framed by a teacher always makes me cry

and the kids half takes place in the summer of 1958...But I think it starts a week or two after June 7th (IIRC it mentions a few Saturdays in June but I think it was later in the month)

Stephen King has not been a fan of Prince. He's put Prince down in some other part of the book too when a chracter was listening to the radio. I remember frowning reading it way back when.

Except The Exorcist is a William Peter Blatty novel, not Stephen King.

Speaking of Prince and the Shining, he talks about the movie and even talks to Wendy as Wendy from the movie “Wendy....” on that old bootleg with the color dirty mind pic as the cover that heads the long ass vamp “Billy’s sunglasses” on it.

And then I recently heard a gold era bootleg during soundcheck where he was quoting / riffing off The Exorcist... the “Dimi...why you do this to me?” part while his voice was modulated down through a processor.

It's not the best Stephen King adaptation, and maybe I'm too fond of cheesy werewolf films, but I've always loved this:

I am so glad you brought this up. I was so enamored with the book, Cycle of the Werewolf, when it came out. It was printed differently, and there was a lot of illustrations. Each chapter was a story unto itself. The movie was pretty decent. For its time, the tension build up and the scary factor were pretty good. When you have Everett McGill (a great but now-retired actor but was back for the Twin Peaks reboot) playing a priest-turned-werewolf, you can't help but scare a few folks. Corey Haim played the boy in the wheelchair.

I need to find a copy of this again. I've been rebuilding my King collection, although I have most everything on ePub.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The Shining, even though King hates it. King was boneheaded on this subject. The book part with the living bush statues is dumb.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Carrie will always be my fave. I had nightmares for years from that last scene!

Salems Lot (kid at the window!!)

The Shining (as a Kubrick film its brilliant...but understand why King hates it as it takes away the power of the book)

Christine (not a big fan of the book, but the movie was very well made)

Shawshank

Stand By Me

Misery

It (new one)...but loved Tim Curry as Pennywise from the TV version

Really wish they remake The Stand and give it the quality it deserves. The TV version was so cheap. Molly Ringwald!! Ugh.

Easily Kubrick's "The Shining," albeit not an entirely faithful adaptation.

"Salem's Lot" would be a close second.

What was the one about the boys who went into the woods to find something? Sorry if I'm a bit vague, but the film included a scene where a boy wearing glasses wanted to "jump" a train. I forgot which movie this was, but somehow I remembered it had something to do with Stephen King. I'm sure somebody knows which movie I'm talking about.

Oh, that must be the one. But I think there's another movie with the same title that's about a little boy wearing glasses and he dies... Right? Sometimes things get a little confusing ..
