My fiancé wrote me a letter when we first started going out. I thought it was romantic as hell. Just a tip for any guys reading this, a handwritten letter to your woman is much more appreciated than a text saying something like "how r u, C u l8r? Lol".

This reminds me, me and my daughter were watching the 2017 Romeo & Juliet done ole skool style theater. And we were trying to imagine how such things would play out today. I was commenting on the idea that a lot of romance is based on repression, ie, take away the repression and the art of courtship disappear. She was cracking on the balcony scene would be reduced to bad texts with poo poo emojis. We pretty much destroyed Shakespeare.

Except Facebook isn't meant to replace either of those. It was meant to be a bulletin board on a college student's dorm door, in theory. A way for college students to connect. I was an early adopter once it got off campuses.

It's still sorta garbage. There are ways to change what companies scan for their ads in your settings.

And I will say this: Since the internet came around, my handwriting (and I'm a left-handed guy anyway) has gone to shit. Who writes anything on a regular basis?! Not me.

It may come to pass that Post Offices will one day be obsolete, except to do E-commerce deliveries. Just an opinion. (There was once an article in a newspaper here about this).

That's my personal opinion too....... - buuuuuuut how many people on this site regularly call each other?? I once posted about wanting to video-conf with people, all I got was a weird GIF...

Every generation has it's own zeitgeist, entertainment, politics and now apps. If you're mid to late 40's then Facebook is YOUR app. Before that it was Myspace. Today's generation uses other apps. Having said that, Facebook has always gave me the creeps and people (like me) have been predicting it's doom for a long time now. But it's still here. Like other ubiquitous things like AOL and Blackberries, it may slowly fade away. Or not.

What this boils done to is, people have to weigh the pros and cons of using not only FB, technology, the Internet period. For one, always read the terms and conditions before signing up to anything. Also realize nobody is going to protect you or your data, but you. I've been tongue in cheek about it but I've always mentioned FB was no good... my wariness of their platform has been confirmed.

I'd compare too....

A person or persons coming to you posing as a friend who's willing to help with anything and everything. The more you acquiesce the more they take charge, to the point you're either dependant on them, easily swayed, or unable to make the simplest decisions. One of the things that raise my eyebrow a couple years ago is when Facebook were caught doing Mind Control experiments in connection with the and funded by DoD Department of Defense. So, what's really different than what Analytica did? I don't see too much shades of gray...except possible foes of our nation beating our government to the punch.


The friendship, family and community connection take work, like all personal relationships. How many of the up-teem friends do FB users really engage with these people? You can't take the time to phone or write a brief note, hell email? Facebook is no good. (IMHO)
