He $%^&@#* did it! Flat Earth Guy Blasted Off! And Survived! Holy moley, the guy actually did it! He blased off in his very own garage-built rocket, went up about a quarter mile, and parachuted down to (round) Earth more-or-less safely. Wow, didn't see that coming!
And of course, he had the BEST quote afterwards: “Am I glad I did it?” Hughes concluded. “Yeah. I guess. I’ll feel it in the morning. I won’t be able to get out of bed. At least I can go home and have dinner and see my cats tonight.”
This launch did not prove the Earth is flat, however. He's now planning to go up 68 miles in a Balloon Rocket in order to see if the Earth really is flat. Hey, I'm not betting against this guy! I know the Earth is round but I won't be surprised if he makes it up those 68 miles. Hopefully he will (A) survive that; and (B) realize the Earth really is a sphere.
Go here to see lots of cool videos of his epic launch. Whatever you think of the guy, he really did blast off in his very own rocket. Dang!

Did you see the YouTube video in the article where the two boys weren't even watching, and a rocket blasts off right behind them?

I can't be the only one who's surprised that the idiot actually survived. |

Yep, must not have done a countdown.
1,900 feet and 68 miles is a major difference though. Geesh.
