Breaking Stephen Hawking has passed

Breaking very sad.

A true Icon. Not only a great mind but a survivor.

Maybe he will get his Nobel Prize now.

BBC is reporting...

Wow, this comes somewhat as a surprise. I hope he found(or will shortly find)the answers. A man who was able to think like he did, deserves it.

Rest in Peace. rose

Thanks for pointing out something infinitely positive. I find the news pretty sad. Not that i ascribe to all his thoughts (*he being more likely to be smarter than i) but it saddens me that yet another brilliant mind who can voice opposition to the insanity of human activity is gone

He was a great man and a true genius. His insight into so many different topics will be sorely missed.

Just as a fun note:

Albert Einstein was born 3.14. He was 76 when he died.

Stephen Hawking died on 3.14. He was 76 when he died.

They are both now infinite, and probably pointing & laughing at Carl Sagan. lol

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Carl is forever 62. That's how old he was when he died years ago.

the number kind...but nothing fancy...that is my brother and sister... I do things like notice

1999, 7, 3121, 21139, 17, 5, 2, 3 are all prime numbers.... 319 is not prime but 3 x 19 is 57

I can also multiply some 2 digit numbers in my head.

I like math jokes and puzzles... but like i said nothing crazy like calculus

I read an article that said that if Hawking didn't like you, he'd run over your toes with his wheelchair. When being introduced to Prince Charles, Charles was admiring his wheelchair, and Hawking spun around in it to show him just how manueverable it could be, and ran over Prince Charles' toes. Later he said that his one regret was that he never got the chance to run over Thatcher's toes.

TheFman

I have his work at home. Stephen is a crack in explaining things. But somehow i missed input of his own. He discusses this and that theories by OTHER people. Sure I'm aware about his own theories, but they aren't theories in the class of those (whether right or wrong) which are being used in everyday life in tons of applications and calculations. He thinks, make theories, change them later on, but he didnt create the definitive theory that will be remembered by the public. Einstein's still the norm even when he was partly wrong, mainly because nothing better is out there, yet.

Bless him. I hope he's not right about some of his final hypotheses (you know, about us not making it another century, etc.), but I hope he's unlocking mysteries somewhere.

Scientists Dedicate the Birth of a New Black Hole to Stephen Hawking

FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2018

One of the MASTER Global Robotic Net telescopes (MSU) located on Tenerife (Spain, Canary Islands) helped the scientists observe the gamma-ray burst caused by the collapse of a star and the formation of a black hole in its place. Usual telescopes are unable to point to gamma-ray bursts error-boxes fast enough to monitor the change in its brightness and obtain any information about its source. A report on the discovery that MASTER MSU scientists dedicated to the physicist Stephen Hawking, was published in The Astronomer's Telegram.
