It could be because dogs have enzymes in their mouths that kill germs and bacteria.

Mind you, humans have these too... and I wouldn't let a dog lick me in the mouth or anything... and a dog's mouth really isn't cleaner than a humans, but they are nice and playful and cute.

Well, I find it gross, but I must admit it is without merit. The enzymes in a dog's mouth are actually incredible germ fighters. This is why dogs lick their wounds, and always want to lick yours. Its like natural neo-sporin. That having been said, I still ain't gonna let either of my dogs give me kisses on the face! Too many times I've caught them raiding the cat box!

My Doberman knew better than to make an attempt to lick my face.. ifi came in she would jump on me yes, but never ever would she lick my face..i taught her as a puppy not too. if anything she would show her love by being obediant..she'd sit right by me.. when i sat down. and god forbid anyone made sudden movements near me LOL

obviously a thread started by someone with no dog..


my dog does however aim for the nose most of the time rather than the mouth..i think i sorta trained him not to kiss me in the mouth from the time he was little..
just be re-directing his face or mine..


he still gets overly excited sometimes and gets the mouth..but to tell you the truth i'm crazy bout him, so...you know..whatever he does is pretty much alright...he doesn't go overboard with it or anything..

i'm sure everybody here has had something more filthy than a dog in their mouth at one time or another in their life...
