23 & Me Ancestry and Health Has anyone tried this service? A doctor mentioned this to me a couple of years ago, but I just haven't tried it yet. I am especially curious about the health aspect. Was wondering how accurate it is? What about privacy of results?

I tried it. But completely unsure of it's accuracy because there's a survey that takes days to fill out. I filled out part of it and then quit because I figured how could I judge the validity of the test if I'm giving them all the answers of who I am. My results ended up coming back with little to no variants of any genetic diseases, beyond having sickle cell trait and some kind of eye disorder, which I already knew going in. I've been updated a few times as more results came in and again little to no variants to genetic disorders, so I have no idea if they just are responding to my incomplete survey or if I truly have only 2 genetic disorders in my DNA. I think it's my incomplete survey. | |

I haven't tried the health portion of the service but the ancestry part. It really confirmed everything I have been told growing up. It was an indescribable feeling knowing your heritage particularity specifics. It was very easy to use and the app on the really makes it easy to understand the results. I would recommend it. They constantly update your info when they accumulate more data for more accurate results. | |

I've done 23andme and Ancestry DNA. The FDA just approved 23andme to do BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 cancer testing. Both results matched close. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet? | |

I was okay with the ancestry part, especially matching it with AncestryDNA, I have relatives showing up I didn't know I had. We found each other. | |
