I'm sure there are orgers who have seen some of these and disagree that they were the worst movies last year. The Razzies though tend to choose more popular films to generate publicity rather than pick an awful indie on no one's radar.

I don't see that "Lady Macbeth" movie that I'm supposed to liveblog anywhere.

BTW, my wife is out of town until Saturday so that liveblog is happening SOON. How drunk do I need to be when I do it? TIA.

I haven't seen the Baywatch movie yet, but from the tone of the trailer, is it meant to deliberately be knowingly ridiculously bad?

No. I saw it. It's just bad. Not funny/bad, just bad.

Ha! I didn't notice that. lol The Razzies apparently were making fun of the sequels this year and some of the news outlets repeated the joke:

i actually get a bit of a kick out of seeing mother! popping up here. not that i think it ought to be rubbing shoulders with baywatch...i think it's too well made to be slumming with that crowd. it's definitely an overblown mess, a mess that i loved, that i thought was mental & completely enjoyable, but a gonzo mess nonetheless. i don't always support provocation just for its own sake, but i did think this particular provocation was perfectly calibrated & hugely entertaining. i'd certainly rather have more films that excit extreme reactions in any direction than more bland competence.

This Award seems to be losing its lustre each year, basically every American film is bad now and it's harder to pick five good American ones

music I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. music

Yep, pretty much. The pictures nominated this year for the Academy Awards, a decade ago wouldn't have been nominated. N

I seen it. And I can say that no matter how bad you think it might be, it's worse. Not one "joke" in the movie is funny. Not even one. The animation is really cheap looking with quite a few scenes where there are two characters speaking to each other against a static background. The first Toy Story movie came out in 1995 and has better animation than The Emoji Movie. Which is just sad. Also, and probably worst of all its many problems, the movie feels like one long advertisement for the Google Play Store. Zero creativity, zero laughs, zero point.

Tom Cruise winning for worst actor is just a joke. It's not a great movie by any means but it doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a list of worst movies in 2017. Same goes for the Pirates movie.

Although perhaps we should be grateful that they resisted the temptation to nominate Henry Cavill's CGI lip for Worst Actor. Even if it was the least convincing performer of 2017.

I'd bet he'll have another cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 but I doubt they'll be giving him his own solo movie. Although a Howard The Duck/Black Panther crossover would be so crazy it might just work.
