I thought The Shape of Water was just an ok and not too special movie.

I liked every other Guillermo Del Toro much better, espesially Cronos, Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone. The movie reminded me a bit of Amelie (which was a much much better movie) but if you cross this movie with A Cure For Wellness you do get some really awesome Bioshock looks and vibes.

It's not my favorite Guillermo del Toro movie (Pan's Labyrinth), but I definitely liked it more than Mimic, Blade II, Pacific Rim and Crimson Peak.

its always based on how popular the movies are in any particular year. This wasn’t a particularly exciting Oscar movie year at the movies. Last year their was buzz for for a lot of movies. This year not so much.

Now, I haven't seen the shape of water, but I am told it is a more dramatic version of the movie "Splash." On a side note I liked "Get Out", but as a movie-I find it not worthy to be nominated for best film of the year award.
