Easily. I never had the internet until I moved into my own place when I was 19 so if I can manage growing up without it during a time when I was considered some sort of social outcast for not having it then I can manage without it now that I couldn't give two fucks what people think of me. Besides, the only thing I use it for is the Org so while I would miss being able to talk to a lot of you, I'd survive.

i'd rather live back in the pre-internet times. And that's coming from someone who earns his money via the net.

I liked it better the old way too. No, I probably couldn't survive, and I was a late-comer to the web et al. Wellll i suppose i could but damn it would take a lot of work to untangle myself from its grip. LOL It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

They added the series "ER" to Hulu recently, last night I said to my friend "look at these people, functioning at work in a high stress environment, saving lives and interacting without their cell phones. They don't look lost or confused, sure maybe they don't know much about each other but they seem fine". It was a simpler time indeed. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

^^There's a certain irony in that statement.

Not forever. My business is online. But I could go a month or two without it. As long as I had my laptop so I could write, I'd be fine. I can upload later. haha Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

If folks took some time from their computers, the internet and other technologies then people would interact more one on one and have decent conversations. More family oriented meals around the dinner table and extra cirricular activities. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Although I had a computer with internet access in the 90s, it was just an information tool and a word processor for me back then; I didn't really utilize social media forums until the 2000's... So, yeah, I can live without the internet. BUT unfortunately one needs the internet for many life functions these days... :eyeroll: "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Yes. I don't even carry a cell phone on me when at home. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

In my world the family sitting around the dinner table was reserved for holidays, and that was long before the internet was even dreamed about. I have noticed that camping is surging for those families who make that conscious effort to stay connected.

Why people only thinking smartphones? Wouldn't the question include everything you use that requires an internet connection. Alexa, Siri, internet radio, gaming everything. Some people have their security systems connected to the internet

I'd go mad in a time span not exceeding 24hrs!

...BUT, that being said, I'm trying to cut down on online time.

Probably because most people take there smartphones with them everywhere, bed bathroom and beyond. Whereas the other things are more limited to spaces? . I just bought an Amazon Echo. I resisted, but knew I would probably get one. So I waited to find one that would fit my home decor vibe. I have the one in the middle. A blue color. But I like that metallic and the wood finish too

I agree, but even before internet I knew too many families that never did that. Eating dinner was on the fly and use of fast food meals and food you could just warm up from a can. Every man for themselves. . We always ate together at one time, except for Saturdays, that was the day 'either mom' cooked breakfast or you cooked your own(she was teaching us how to cook our own breakfasts, the one meal that might be the easiest) then because that was the day we were out doing things together or individual we at at a restaraunt, over someones house, fast food/pizza/McDonalds etc or cooked something at home on your own. . We had the ATARI system back in the earlies 80s. That was an event to go to the Game Spot and pick out the next Atari game. We used the computer more for game time, but also to type up stuff.

My job requires the use of internet. Everyone's medical records are on some type of digital program now. I have to have my job to survive, buy food, pay house payment, pay car payment, insurance, gas, so probably not.
