Can you really tell the difference when using a 4K player?

So a few weeks ago I bought my first 4K UHD TV.The picture is outstanding when using bluray. So i went to walmart and thought I bought a 4K bluray disc player but it turns out i bought a 4K Bluray "upscaling player" which means it does not play 4k discs but makes bluray and dvd discs look good on a 4ktv.

So to those of you who own a 4k player,is there really a noticable difference from a regular bluray player?

Yes, but it depends on the movie. For example, I've got Batman Begins on 4k blu ray and while it does look better than regular blu ray, there's just not THAT much of a difference. However, Mad Max Fury Road looks amazing in 4k, as do Star Wars Rogue One and The Force Awakens. Newer movies will give you more of a difference.

If you're considering getting a 4K player then I'd recommend you get the Xbox One X. It's got a 4k player built in and it's no more expensive than any other good 4k player on the market. The only difference is that you can also play games on it if you want but even if you use it exclusively for 4k blu rays, it's still the best option on the market.

HDR is all the difference and really noticeable...
I have an xBox One X and a 4K TV with an HDMI 2.0 cable (for signals up to 10K) to transfer the 4K signals which is essential... The first thing I did was compare the "Man Of Steel" 4K HDR bluray with the standard bluray and the difference was like day and night...

Fuck yeah there is a difference.

The first time I saw a 4K video, it was in some electronics store. I passed a TV on display and saw what I thought was something from Back to The Future. I asked my friend, "did they do a TV special based on the movie?" I was so confused because it was so clear it almost felt like video. In fact, it was simply the movie playing in 4K. I was just stunned having never seen anything 4K or that clear before, beyond 1080.

Upscaling, of course, is terribly different than actual 4K. No need to explain that. BluRays look wonderful on it, and 4K disks are brilliant. However, I don't buy many DVDs at all. When I do it's something I really love, and I will go the extra few bucks to get the 4K disk.

We have a 4K 3D Sony 55" TV. A 4K player looks fab on it. I don't subscribe to the 4K Netflix.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I've got a 55" 4K Samsung ... the only 4K stuff I've seen running on it are the 4K Netflix shows. The picture is stunning but I don't notice alot of difference between it and a decent blu-ray running off my PS3 ... certainly not enough to go out and purchase a 4K player and to start upgrading my fave films for the millionth time! LoL biggrin

what is next? I read that many 4K tvs are not even true 4K and that the new bug is oled 4k...

like i said above some content is not fit for that much detail.

and another thing I have read that is a lie are curved tvs. I read that was pure marketing that was made to give the (false) impression it was BETTER! The scam is the big Imax/XD type screens are curved but that is to compensate for picture distortion...

I'm saving up for the 4K OLED HDR TV.... soon. soon.

But I also want to upgrade my receiver too. It all cost thousands... to have these toys.
