Attention Comic Books Geeks: Various Tidbits About Your Favorite Characters! UPDATED! On The Marvel front, currently in pre-production are:
A big budget Fantastic Four flick- Avi Arad is courting Goerge Clooney to play Reed Richards Iron Fist- Starring Ray Park Shang Chi: Master Of Kung Fu- No Director or Actor announed. Iron Man Namor Deathlok X3 Blade III- Screenwriter David Goyer mentioned that preproduction is set to begin in about two months, although he is still at work on finishing the script. According to Goyer, New Line has the film penciled in for an August 2004 release. Goyer also let slip that one scene he's considering involves a new chemical weapon for Blade; atomized Silver Nitrate, that he will filter into a room full of vampires through the ventilation system - you can guess what happens next. One question lingers, however - who will direct the flick? Goyer says, with a great deal of uncertainty, that he hasn't ruled out the possibility of directing the movie himself. Word is that this will be the last flick for Snipes, who wants to move on to another Marvel property, The Black Panther. A Blade TV series is also being tossed around. On the DC front, Catwoman is a go, with Halle Berry in the lead. If that doesn't already piss you off, get this: it won't be Selina Kyle, and it won't be set in Gotham. In fact, it won't feature ANY batman related mythos at all! Superman is still in development hell Wonder Woman is also trapped in perdition (and word is that the script has little to do with the comic book character, instead focusing on a teenager who inherits the mantle when the original Wonader Woman dies! Ugh! Now, for a small bit of good news for DC fans: David Goyer Writing New Batman Film! Blade series writer David Goyer will take on Warner Bros.' new Batman project, says Variety. Sources for the trade say Goyer will write an entirely new version of the Caped Crusader based on a take by "Insomnia" helmer Christopher Nolan. The film is unrelated to non-starters like Batman vs. Superman and Batman: Year One. The trade recaps that Batman vs. Superman nearly went into production with director Wolfgang Petersen and a script by Andrew Kevin Walker ("Seven") until Petersen moved to the Greek epic "Troy" at the studio. Batman: Year One, is a Gen-X version of the crimefighter that was being developed by Darren Aronofsky and creator Frank Miller. The project stalled some months ago. Word has it that Nolan has been courting Angel star Davi Boreanaz to don the cape and cowl! Please, if you dislike my thread, then don't post here. I have no beef with you, and I would really appreciate it if you didn't turn this into a big flame war. There's a whole lotta bad shit going on in the world right now, and I jsut wanted to provide a few Orgers with some fun topics. Some more news, for fans of the Garth Ennis/ Steve Dillon comic Preacher:
James Marsden Talks Preacher Thursday, April 17, 2003 8:14 CDT X2 star James Marsden, aka Cyclops, talked to MTV about Preacher, the adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic which will be directed by Rachel Talalay. "Right now it's in one of those weird Hollywood states where financing is still kind of questionable at this point," explained the 29-year-old actor as he relaxed in his hotel room, dressed in a dark shirt and jeans. "But they keep threatening to start [filming] in June, so if they do it, I'm thrilled to be a part of it." The actor said it was the book's mature themes and complex character dynamics that attracted him to the material. "I [like] the maturity of the relationship between Tulip and the Preacher, the mix between the issues that it deals with, that it’s kind of a Western and that he walks around with the image of John Wayne around him. "I also like the bravery in Garth Ennis' writing. He’s not afraid to tackle the hypocrisies of modern religion and things like that. A couple of people have said, ‘Boy, if Garth Ennis had created a religion, I would sure like to be a part of that.’ It just makes sense, the way he tackles things in it. It's really heavy stuff [and] it's incredibly well written." Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. I'd like to debate this point, at least one more time...ChocolateInvasion "contributes" hundreds of emoticons all over the place...which I don't consider actual content, in fact it is a waste of server space. Total posts doesn't mean a thing. JediMaster starts threads that people actually respond to and actually stays on-topic. In terms of quality vs. quantity, JediMaster wins hands-down. 'Nuff said. And back on topic, I'd say it's about time for a Sandman movie...at least The Dreaming...or maybe JTHM. I'd settle for Milk & Cheese, if they could make it work.

Another Blade III tidbit, courtesy of Comics2film:
"[It] looks like Hannibal King and Frank Drake (a.k.a. the Nightstalkers) from the Tomb of Dracula comic will be making an appearance in the third film," Goyer told us. Now that is cool! If this is the case, I have to wonder if the big gorilla of vampires, Dracula himself, won't be the bigbad for this flick? I would love to see the Marvel version of Drac facing off against Snipe's Blade! We can only dream! The Fantastic Four kindza scares me be cause i heard their arc was some kind of MIB humour tinted film... (I like MIB just think FF could be more serious) and the director in charge is famous for teen films so... (Scoobidoo for example). there is also talk of a Nick Fury film... "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Ahhh, Klaatu, I DID forget to mention the Weapon X film, didn't I? Yes, I have been hearing that Jackman and Tyler Mane have been signed to do the flick, but there hasn't been any official press release about it yet.
As for GR, tommyalma posted the link to the thread I posted on that particular topic. I also started a thread with the details on the Punisher movie. As for Nick Fury, that thing has been on-again, off-again for so long that I didn't bother to mention it. Of course, if I'd wanted to be cruel, I could have mentioned the David Hasselhoff made for TV movie where he played Colnel Fury! Couldn't agree more! will they keep casting someone else for the voice? The poor guy never had his own voice recordeed for the movies he played in (even X Men is not his...) "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Actually, I heard its going to be his own voice. They're probably not going to make any kind of issue with his nationality, that way it won't matter if he's speaking with an English accent. This could be the thing that actually makes Ray a martial arts star. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones.
