my love for Star Wars through art

the fire is gone and my overall love affair with Star Wars is over

but fan art and concept artists remind me why I loved the adventure and journey

even concept art for this 'new' direction it has gone in

Do you have any favorite or good art pieces to share?

How the FUCK was this concept never exploited in the film? Would've added some nice heavy symbolism and iconography.

Fucking ay.

Just. ...fucking aye

I think the Star Wars mythology will continue to live on through art, novels, fan fiction, etc. for decades to come...just as the Star Trek franchise continues... The late Joseph Campbell had some insightful comments on what the Star Wars mythology has meant to people throughout the years...

When Lucas turned his vision over to others, they totally wiped away 30+ years of Star Wars canon and lore. And I don't like the direction they've taken it. It totally killed my passion.

Yes, it will live on through the art for me and SW I II III IV V VI

the reason it cannot live on for me, is that all the non-ST movies novels characters stories have been wiped away with the Disney ownership. I have crates of books and comics from Star Wars:Splinter of the Minds Eye(1978) onward that are just considered (legends) now. Princess Leia never became a Jedi, Luke Skywalker never rebuilt the Jedi(Return of the Jedi therefore never happened, and the New Hope died)

The Star Trek storyline was never wiped away like what happened with Star Wars

My point is that fans of the ORIGINAL Star Wars films will never let the mythology die... The novels, art, fan fiction, maybe even fan-inspired films will continue...

I think I will choose not to see the latest SW movie because of your post and others who saw the new film. I haven't seen the latest one. I saw the one where Hans Solo was killed off by his son but I know that was only at the request of Harrison Ford, who really wanted to leave his SW legacy as it was...and only agreed to do it if his character was killed off. But, now that I have heard that Luke was killed off in the new film, that is the end with me (for the movie franchise). Luke Skywalker was the beginning and the end of the mythology (at least for the movies); if you end that figure, you end the entire series. Luke should continue as Obi-Wan Kenobi did for future films... But, I'm out. I'm like Harrison Ford--why bring back the original characters? The first three movies ended where they should have. If anyone should survive long-term it should be Luke. But, I'm done. Not with the SW mythology, but just with the latest movie. Here's a suggestion: write and illustrate your own SW myth...and see how it develops. wink

I hear you. I totally agree about Luke being the beginning & end.

There is a foreword in the Star Wars(A /new Hope) original novels: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker. And that is how I see it all. Even Mark Hamill was displeased with the direction they took Luke.

I have a great imagination, but I'm not a writer. I've tried in the past though. Maybe I'll find someone how can take my imagination and put it on paper.

I freaking ❤️ Star Wars! Lol I’m such a nerd 🤓 ..I appreciate and will always enjoy the first three classics the most. The Force Awakens is awesome and I love the adorable BB-8, but the classics can’t be touched. I cried towards the end of Return Of The Jedi and Empire Strikes Back is another fave of mine. Btw..Boba Fett and Kylo Ren are bae 😍😍😍

These images (fan art) images taken from Return of the Jedi, that ignited that innocent wonder of outter space fantasy. They capture the 'shine' that I remember from the movie
