Housquake vs. The Org

Just came across www.housequake.com
Looks like a good forum for Prince Fans. I just wanted 2 know what this "beef"-thing with the org and hq is all about??? Just curious, because we listen 2 the same Music, but still there are differences among fans...
Any Ideas?

Housequake is a beautiful site, but it doesn't have the flow that the org does--the org is fast and functional. Also, the org has a critical mass of users. Also the org was here first.

I think Housequake looks great. It's a far more attractive looking site than the Org, no doubt about it. As Teller says, the Org is fast and functional, and we have a larger community of people.

But of course the Org isn't for everyone. The sheer number of people visiting the Org every day means it has quite a different vibe to the smaller sites like Housequake and Princefams. Smaller sites tend to be less combative, and more Prince-focused. On the other hand, on the Org the Prince forum is only one small part of the site and a lot of our members want to talk about more than just Prince, so the site has evolved to meet the needs of the community.

There's plenty of room on the net for both sites smile

By their very nature, the larger discussion forums such as Prince.org and alt.music.prince can get more heated at times, you can't too be thin-skinned here. So, some people prefer smaller sites for their friendly atmosphere.

Me, I like the Org, but I dig Housequake and Princefams and AMP too smile

By the way, I've never heard of any such beef between the two sites, since many Orgers visit Housequake and vice-versa. So I suspect that Ziese here is just baiting...

There's a little bit of org pride at work, I think. But I like your "small-town" metaphor; they do serve up a different atmosphere, serve a different demographic. The org is more like a big city with angry honking horns and what-not.

I migrated over to housequake back when the org was down for a few weeks. The HQ site looks sharp but is slow loading.

The only beef ive seen between the two was more of a criticism of the type of people that visit the sites, not the sites themselves.

I get their mailings but I havent been back to the houseuake site in a few months.

going to other sites like housequake or princefams... is like walking into someone else's house and being able to smell it. it isn't necessarily bad, in fact it may be nice, but it's just not the smell you're used to in your own house.

I avoid HQ. Not that I have anything against it, I just don't have time for another mutherfucking message board/community. I value certain things about my time spent here, so it's ok, but if I had ANOTHER site to check up on, good lawd, I wouldn't have time for a non-internet social life. . .

nod Yeah, I tried to be cool with two sites... (I posted on PrinceFams) but, all in all, it was just too hard - I prefer this quick loading, multi forum format.

Prince.Org is my home. dancing jig

The talk freely about music and do alot of trading also.

I like that. Not as much dispute over there. I frequent both sites alot.

Just like going to another friends house and having dinner with them. Enjoy the company but sometimes you got to leave and enjoy them another time.

Well, I have to say, I just went over there to see if THEY were talking about US (nod, haters) and I have to admit, I didn't know about the Royal Hub. That is damn cool. If you don't know about it either, check out their downloads forum.

Other than that, it really looks like they spend a looot of time talking about Prince. . .and how much time can you really spend doing that? I need a place that will keep my interest when I can't sleep, or don't feel like doing my homework, or have a few minutes before I have to catch a bus. Prince isn't interesting enough to occupy all of that time. Org: woot!
