The Philosophers - Boring movie, interesting experiment

Yesterday I watched the philosopehrs. The students in that movie are part of an experiment. The scenario is an apocalypse in the future and there's a shelter. The problem is that there's room for only ten people and now the students have to decide on their own, who's going to get into the shelter.

Criterias are for example, the jobs their teacher gave them. They have to decide rationally, wether the job is important for the near future or not. But the trick is, that there's not only the jobs, they also get futher informations about their health. For example, the only doctor in the group got ebola and so they had to decide to leave her behind.

A gay person almost got left behind, because they said he wouldn't sleep with a woman and that they need to reproduce, but his job was too important, so they took him with them. But what if the man or the woman can't reproduce if they're intfertil? Well, if they're in or out depends on the job, so you better hope that the rest thinks your job is important enough.

I hope you kinda understood the concept of the experiment. Now, the movie itself wasn't really good, it was pretty boring. But the experiment was really interesting. We tend to believe that our morals are untouchable, but what would we do in a situation like this? Is it ethically correct to leave some people behind and some not if there are certain criterias that ensure the future of mankind? Because the people you leave behind will die, the rest lives on.

It also makes you think about wich jobs could be important, even after a scenario like an apocalypse. A bankster wouldn't be that important, right? A carpenter would be way more important, the next houses will be made out of woods.

Like I said, I found this experiment really interesting, because sometimes I was like: "What would I do? And would my decision be good or bad?"
