The Girlfriend Experience - Season 2

This season was two different storylines told in separate half-hour segments. Like season one, they don't have conventional endings to the season-long plots which didn't bother me in the first season, but the lack of traditional epilogues was a little more frustrating this time around. I liked The Erica & Anna segments more than the Bria story although many of the political connections in the former went a little over my head. Still very good TV. 3.5/5

The cinematography, the look (wardrobe), the flow, the chemistry between the actors was on point. I pretty much like the series because of the style and dress of the characters. Part soap opera / party "story telling". I attempted to leave history at the door but in some instances miscarriage of character's were way off: John Lithgow as Winston Churchill... temperament was historically baseless. The Queen Mom was given a much more generous gentle disposition than she did deserved. The first season was much better than the second season... the Duke of Edinburgh took up a lot of screen time bitching, moaning to his wife, the Queen... claiming he ( Prince Phillip) was being emasculated at every turn.

Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I used to watch this all the time when I was small and as a fan of all things Superman (and Dean Cain) I loved it. It always ranked high in my list of superhero related TV shows. But the problem is that sometimes nostalgia can play tricks on the mind. For example, I loved the Smallville series when it first aired but anytime I watch repeats of it now I think its actually pretty bad. There were maybe 6 good episodes per season. So it never lived up to the memories I had of it. So I wondered if the 90's Dean Cain series would have a similar fall from grace. And now, after going back and watching the entire run, I'm glad to report that it's still as I remembered it. The first season in particular was fantastic. Seasons 2-4 suffered a bit from not having Lex Luthor around but overall, it's a really good show and still the best live action DC show ever made. OMG, YES! I used to watch this religiously on Sundays, around 5 pm or so. I did NOT want the episodes to end. Later I taped all episodes during re-runs. Season 2 was my favorite as they finally got closer... Those multi-episode-arcs with the Doppelgänger-Lois and later the Cryptonians was when they really lost track for me. A couple of good moments later on, but not the same. But boy, I loved that show so much. And Teri Hatcher. Anyway, can't rate this show objectively, so I won't even bother.

We watched a whole lot of "Parks and Recreation" over the New Year's weekend, as E! was having a marathon. I rate P&R as 9 out of 10. (NOTE: Do not confuse the P&R TV show with the P&R forum. The P&R forum was, is and will always be 100 on a scale of 1 - 10.)

American Gods - Season 1

It's rare that I criticize a movie or series for being too artsy, but I found myself wishing at times that the execution was slightly more conventional--perhaps difficult to do given the source material. However, I'm on board for season two later this year. 3.5/5

Broadchurch, season 3. Such a special show. I love the pacing, the main characters are great together, it looks great, the music is not intrusive but really adds to the mood, it really has tension without using any cheap tricks. 9/10.

LA to Vegas - Most of the first episode was average, edgy- trying-to-hard-to-be-funny comedy, but I laughed really hard twice and was giggling for about 10 minutes after it was over. So I'll give it an 8/10.

Drop the series... The creative minds that made this show (Bryan Fuller and Michael Green) have left the show... And now Gillian Anderson has left with them and Kristen Chenoweth seems to be following them...
That Bryan Fuller guy did amazing work with "Hannibal" and this show was interesting enough (at least more interesting than that overrated book by the otherwise great Neil Gaiman) but somehow they keep dropping this guy for whatever reason...

This seemed like an off season to me, epi 1 was funny, but I barely remember the others because they were kind of common occurances in tv watching these days. Looks like Jodie Foster directed one, it was good and well done but again a common occurance in family life regardless of technology.

That's disappointing. By not reading any news related to the show to avoid spoilers, I missed this. If I had known, I wouldn't have bothered watching season one.

We watched the rebooted "X Files" last night and really enjoyed it! Will definitely be tuning in next week.

The Arkangel episode. It was very very well done. It's just that mothers (parents) have been losing contact with their children because they're being too controlling for a long time now, not due to the rise of technology. I feel in that circumstance, parents who aren't normally controlling would let go at a certain point.

I'm enamored with the show "Baskets" starring Zach Galafinakis and Louie Anderson as "Christine".

A pretty tale about modern family. 8/10

I watched about 10 episodes of "The Office" yesterday while working in front of the TV. Steve Carrell was so funny. One of the best series ever, IMO.

Yeah, The Office is great, among best sitcoms ever.
