Add Oil

Yeah, well... I'm really not this stupid, but my starter went out in my car yesterday and it wasn't able to be fixed because it was Sunday. Well, come to find out, my car was 3.5 quarts low on oil... it only takes four, and apparently this can cause parts and pieces, other than the engine, to go bad. Who knew? My car's junk, so I just figured the tick, tick, tick the engine was making was normal and not because it wasn't lubricated!

Anyway... I'm off to go and try to start it to take my son to school and to get to work before I take it in this morning... CHANGE YOUR OIL, at the very least... add some!

big grin

Now you know... there is someone that dumb out there! But, I had just recently put oil in it and didn't think about an oil leak. Ah well...

In any case... it only took about 20 tries to get it started! I only have to do it one more time...

lol

He added it yesterday, then came here and gave me a lecture on "car care". To which I replied... "look at my car... do you think I should care?"

It gives me a good reason to go car shopping later this week. I've needed to for quite some time, and I'm finally going to do it. smile

I feel ya, Azure, on needing a new car. My car is a 1992 Chevy Lumina that is on its last legs (keeps conking out on me). I am probably going to start shopping this weekend for a good used car that is one or two years old (since I take the bus to work and don't drive much). Good luck car shopping to ya. Do you know what kind of car you're going to get (or thinking of buying)? I am probably going to get a Toyota (since people rave about what great cars they are), either a Corolla or a Camry.

Well... I went after work today and looked at some and I think I found the one that I really want. We did the thing they do, and the salesman will get me this for around $13,000. He finangled some things to get it for me at this price (or so he said). So, we will see. I want it in black... smile And, I'll even keep oil in it!

A girl at work has a Toyota Camry and loves it! Good luck to you too! smile

A good car can last a LONG time w/ really simple maintenance. I change my oil about every 3 months (can't really stick w/ the mileage thing) & so far it's been good to me... smile

Also, all your belts & fluids should be checked regularly, that's the kinda shit that'll stop you on the freeway & cause a towing bill you don't wanna see shake
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

You see, I've been afraid to change my oil in this car because I was afraid it may not run afterwards or that something would break, etc..

If it had been a good car to begin with, I would have taken proper care of it. But... it's junk. smile

Just a thought to consider Azure, I know a lot of people who are in to program cars rather than right off the show room, if you look around depending where you live you might find something program returned or try the internet.

I put in a request on the internet once for a new car and a couple of dealerships called me back with exactly what I wanted although I decided on trading my car and just kept it because it was still new then. Even my boss buys program BMW's for himself and he isn't nearly broke wink.

It's just a thought that I'd pass along to you because these cars come with factory remaining warranty and have little to no miles on them and are just like brand new for thousands less, and it really helps out with the huge loss you take after driving a brand new car off the lot, trust me I know.

Good luck

Program cars? The ones that the salesman, etc., drive for a while?

I'll look into that! I have certain cars that I've wanted in my head and I figure if I'm actually going to do this, and scrape and starve to pay for this thing, it may as well be something that I like... but, there may be something that I like, or like even better, in a program car, too! I'll give him a call later today and check into it... thanks!

Just a thought for you.
You never know, you may find something very nice for a whole lot cheaper but if all else fails and you intend on keeping the car for a while then go new.

I may never buy new again myself, like one of my friends buys program cars or slightly used with low miles kinda like when rich old people trade in a car every two years, heck he bought a Lincoln Town Car last year with low miles and it still had the new car smell inside.

Anything to help out Azure.

You see, I've been afraid to change my oil in this car because I was afraid it may not run afterwards or that something would break, etc..

If it had been a good car to begin with, I would have taken proper care of it. But... it's junk. smile

I hear you smile but if it can't/couldn't handle a simple oil change, it didn't need to be on the road lol That's pretty scary... boxed

Yep, I don't think it should be on the road. And, I'm very serious about that. I call it the death trap. Brakes go out all the time, something is always breaking... yeah, I need a new car! smile
